We spiritualized salvation until it meant almost nothing material — certainly nothing political. We were saved from our flesh and the devil, premarital sex and maybe some bad music and movies, and pretty much nothing else. The idea that salvation restructures society, that atonement has political consequences, that the Lordship of Christ is not a metaphor — that was filed under “theonomy” and quietly escorted from the building. And into the vacuum walked every soft ideology the 20th century had to offer. Marxism didn’t muscle its way into Christian civilization. Some are saying that Protestantism got us into this mess, and Roman Catholicism is the way out. But they are partially right. Identity politics is a uniquely Protestant cancer, but only 100 proof Protestantism can cure this disease.

One of the greatest explosions of missions, piety, scientific exploration, as well as political freedom in Britain but especially in America is glorious proof of the success of the Reformation. I’m sure others will elaborate on that quite handily. Unfortunately, most of the church is rather oblivious to another war that is going on in our homes and even in the church itself. This war is being waged by players that you would not expect, yet it is happening at epidemic levels. This is not hyperbole. Perhaps some of you have heard of this “controversial” issue to which I refer: White Knights and Reviling Wives. I have become a lightning rod of controversy in writing two books about this very explosive topic - The Abusive Wife back in 2015 and now White Knights & Reviling Wives - How Feminism Destroys Families in 2025. The fact that what I wrote is “controversial” says more about the current state of the church than it does about me. This should not be controversial at all, but sadly it is. How is it that we not only do not see this issue clearly, but actually we double down and try to stamp out anyone who dares to raise the issue?
