50 years ago today, this first-ever shot for ‘STAR WARS’ was captured.

Filming commences for the new George Lucas sci-fi project, “The Star Wars,” in Tozeur, Tunisia, which will serve as the backdrop for the main character, Luke Starkiller’s, home planet, “Tatooine.” The first scene that is shot involves the “Jawa” characters selling droids to Luke Starkiller and his uncle, who is not yet named. The language spoken by the Jawas is not gibberish, but rather Zulu.

The Canon-only fans who decry anything Legends to be “non-canon” and therefore doesn’t matter are dumb. Legends seeps into Canon literally all the time. With every new Canon release there are several things from Legends that enter in. The Legends-only fans who constantly cry that every new installment “breaks canon” are dumb. The old EU was retconned constantly. There were authors like Abel G. Peña known for his creativity in connecting various things going all the way back to the 70s-80s Marvel Comics and making them fit. The EU was massaged so many times to make as much as possible fit together, but a lot of things were overwritten. It’s just how it was. Stories change. Canon, Legends, it doesn’t matter. It’s all Star Wars.
