@milken_cookies I used to live very close to TS & walk through at least weekly. Figured out how to make the experience neutral to pleasant— how to navigate the throngs efficiently, where to get a decent meal (multiple spots I was welcomed by name as a regular). Got a soft spot for it now ❤️

Here’s a prime example of why you cannot be sleeping on vintage books for your homeschool curriculum. Found this book for FREE in a book swap library in my neighborhood and I’m in love with the hand drawn illustrations and detailed but kid friendly information. Published in the USA in 1973. They don’t make them like this anymore!

Hantavirus is incredibly deadly. One of the only reasons that we don't have an issue with it, is we've never seen any outbreaks manage to evolve human-to-human transmission before. It's always been rodent-to-human contact. If we have H2H in Hantavirus that ship needs to be stranded at sea until every, single, person is cleared. Because that would make the previous pandemic look like childs play.

@FoopDooperino There are definitely some more competitive jobs that will use GPA as a filter to cut the resume pile for recent grads, usually 3.0 or 3.5. If you make it over the bar it doesn’t matter after that though

According to my parents and my friends that have graduated, no job really cares about your GPA, only that you have a degree. Is this true in your experience?

@sgodofsk I’ve seen an option to contribute to a “honeymoon fund”, which I like as a way to give money that doesn’t feel like it is just going to be spent on groceries. A different friend asked for gifts of a favorite book with an inscription from the giver, if that’s your thing!

I get that people want to give newlyweds gifts and stuff. But the thing is, I am 33, my fiancee is 30, and I've been married before and still have all the crap from my first wedding. The kitchen cabinets have no room left for more skymall gadgets so we are in a bind.

Still does not feel remotely real but yesterday I defended my dissertation at 7.5 months pregnant and now I am officially done 🥲 very surreal to see so many colleagues and friends and family members together in one place all asking such thoughtful questions about the project I’ve given so much to over the last few years. I am so humbled and honored. The responsorial psalm yesterday was very fitting: “Not to us, O Lord, but to your name give the glory.” (Ps 115)

@sporadica Factoring in time to get to and from the airport & through security etc, for NYC-BOS they can be equivalent time. If you want to get work done, on the train you can lock in for the full 4h, vs very fragmented moments through the airport and flight

Flight prices could double and I am still not choosing Amtrak ex. BOS-NYC morning of May 16: Flying = $100, 1.5hr travel time Amtrak = ~$120-150, 4hr travel time how is Amtrak in business, honestly

@TKPullinger I also wonder how much of it is even effective? I don’t know if these women genuinely believe in everything they’re doing, or if it’s mostly performative for social media. Either way, I refuse to believe this is good for anyone

I love how half of the women watching videos like this consider it aspirational and a sign of health, wealth, and beauty — while the other half (me) find it incredibly disheartening on so many levels that it’s almost repulsive
