There’s one thing society has failed to understand about child labor. Not every child carrying adult responsibilities is “learning life.” Some are simply being forced to grow up too early. We have normalized seeing children in survival mode. Young boys carrying bricks, pushing wheelbarrows, selling on streets late into the night, digging, lifting heavy loads under the hot sun. Young girls spending their childhood raising babies that aren’t theirs, cooking for entire households, washing endlessly, and living under pressure no child should carry. And the saddest part is that many people no longer even pause when they see it. It has become part of everyday life. Somewhere along the way, society stopped protecting childhood and started preparing children for suffering instead. A child should not have to earn rest, peace, love, or protection through exhaustion. Children deserve to grow, learn, play, dream, and experience life without carrying burdens meant for adults.
