On Friday my lovely Dad passed away peacefully at home in York. 4 days shy of his 101st birthday he had an amazing life. Here is one of my favourites photos of him from nearly 20 years ago. Love you, Dad.

@sal55318410 @CarolynMor12700 Sending lots of prayers for you. The same happened to me in 2019, I was almost 5 months pregnant with twins and I had to go to hospital and give birth knowing that there was no heart beat. It is painful but if you believe in God, he will give you and your wife the strength

What advice would you give to someone hoping/planning to train to be a teacher? Seeing some heated debates in this area. Would be interesting to see a range of responses. #edutwitter

As a parent of a Y12 interested in going to university, would appreciate sensible tips. Open days (when? where to find online?), how to choose course/location, alleviating debt anxieties… A gap in my school knowledge here! TIA.

If a student doesn’t have a pen, don’t ‘just give them a pen’. Instead you could: -Give them a pen and take note. If it happens again, follow up with a consequence -Give them a purple pen so it’s easy to show parents days equipment isn’t right -Teach them how to locate a pen -Teach them how to pack properly for the day -Privately, ask if there are any reasons why they aren’t ready -Record any equipment issues, daily -Teach them why being organised matters. -Teach them to bring three pens a day. Don’t ’just give them a pen.’ You are not Stationery Santa. Don’t teach them to be helpless. Show them you care by teaching them to be independent.
