I Saved Injective's $500M. They Pay Me $50K. I like hunting bugs on @immunefi . I'm decent at it. - #1 — Attackathon | Stacks - #2 — Attackathon | Stacks II - #1 — Attackathon | XRPL Lending Protocol - 1 Critical and 1 High from bug bounties (not counting this one) Life was good. Then I found a Critical vulnerability in @injective . This vulnerability allowed any user to directly drain any account on the chain. No special permissions needed. Over $500M in on-chain assets were at risk. I reported it through Immunefi. The next day, a mainnet upgrade to fix the bug went to governance vote. The Injective team clearly understood the severity. Then — silence. For 3 months. No follow up. No technical discussion. Nothing. A few days ago, they notified me of their decision: $50K. The maximum payout for a Critical vulnerability in their bug bounty program is $500K. I disputed it. Silence again. No explanation for the reduced payout. No explanation for the 3 month ghost. No conversation at all. To be clear: the $50K has not been paid either. I've seen others share bad experiences with bug bounty payouts recently. I never thought it would happen to me. I can't force them to do the right thing. But I won't let this be forgotten. To me, these two are pretty much the same cycle psychology wise You had: 1) Initial mini bull season followed by 2) Long drawn out & exhausting semi bear with hopeful recovery for a comeback 3) All just before the black swan (Covid/Tariffs) to kill all dreams 4) Full V-shape recovery not followed by the broader market, followed by 5) The current low-volume re-accumulation where everyone lost hope It is also twice as long time wise as it was in the past, which makes it even worse for people but I don't have any reason to think we are at any different stage The only way is to not lose the focus. Life will always test you out the fullest the moment you start to get closer to your breakthrough. Universe is testing your conviction. The test before success. And most of people around will only make it tougher, planting the seed of doubts into you. The life is asking you, do you really want it? And then it comes So if you feel pressed, challenged, even broken. It is not the end. It's the beginning of something greater

Rune, or derivatives of Rune, should NEVER be used for anything other than securing the network. It's a complete breach of 1st principles. This topic is torture for my brain, the amount of potential dangerous scenarios this injects makes me unable to forecast the future. A potential counterargument could be, "If it's a small % of the total amount of Rune, it's fine and safe". This is so wildly incorrect. There is no way to guarantee the % ratio of bRUNE to RUNE to future governance--especially due to huge number of new entrants into the system. Also, to use a medical analogy, lending Rune (or derivatives) is like a mercury or cyanide toxicity. At low PPM, the patient is asymptomatic. But it doesn't take much more ☠️ Additionally, I find the argument "RUNE is too complicated to bond" totally untrue. Bonding RUNE is utterly simple. It's 3 steps. That's it. Absolutely absurd to me we use the "difficulty" of bonding one's RUNE as an argument to justify bRUNE. If you can take a shit, clean your ass and wash your hands, you have mastered the 3-step ability to bond your RUNE. RUNE can literally do ONLY 1 thing: secure exogenuous assets. If we add any primitives that results in leverage-looping the valuation of RUNE, we are going down the same path. And if we constantly are going to have this arguement over this, I do not see any real net benefit to bRUNE. THORChain must be designed in a manner where it truly ossifies and will last that way for many decades. Even if everyone who wants bRUNE now swears up and down it will never be used for lending, there is no way to guarantee it won't be in the future. Maybe there can be some sort of severance clause by NOs that if bRUNE is used in another other manner than securing the network, it will be immediately deprecated. But I am not even sure how that would work properly.
