@PAUL_M_RHODES @YueWUK @bt_uk It does. One of the effects of energy efficiency was to shut down one frequency, but load balancing was pushing subscribers back on to the bearer to be shut down.

@PAUL_M_RHODES @PicocomT @YueWUK @bt_uk To be fair, Joan who works for me developed an energy efficiency xApp in 2019... and we found all kinds of fun with a load balancing algorithm.

@zahidtg @HorizonEU @NetworldEurope @6G_SNS I'm in the right place to ask. Ironically, today we are ceremonially closing 5GPPP down...
English

Anyone knows what's happened to 5GPPP twitter handle? @5GPPP doesn't look like The 5G Infrastructure Public Private Partnership (5G PPP) handle 🤔

@elenaneira @abshah1234 Do you mean technically or commercially different? And which enterprise services do you mean?
English

@TMGB @abshah1234 But why is this fundamentally different to a traditional SLA for enterprise networking services? They are also B2B, also with service/QoS assurances, and also with penalties in the contract in case it fails to deliver

Network slicing technology has been proven out, but it's incumbent on operators and their partners to operationalize the overall process toward monetization
Samsung Networks@SamsungNetworks
.@Samsung and @KDDIpr have signed a MOU to form a #5G Global #NetworkSlicing Alliance to drive commercial #5Gnetwork slicing services and assess new business models based on the technology. samsung.com/global/busines…

@Gabeuk @elenaneira @YueWUK Ah, well if you'd been at MY talk at DTW you'd have heard about applying AI to rearchitect the network based on traffic for optimal use of bare metal resources ;)
English

@TMGB @elenaneira @YueWUK Definetly this. Speakers on our ML/AI panel yesterday agreed there are incremental gains to be had... And then potential, a way down the line, for fundamentally different networking models to emerge
English

@elenaneira @Gabeuk @YueWUK But... before you get there, you have to try it out. That's why it's a great research area to be in right now.
English

@elenaneira @Gabeuk @YueWUK I suspect where the network 'optimisation' is a compromise between competing incentives (e.g. latency versus packet overhead inefficiency) we'll find no gain, or that the gains from applying AI are negated by the cost of implementation. Nuanced beyond 'AI in everything'.
English

@elenaneira @YueWUK Yue can send you the slides if they are not publicly available via TMF. Nonidea if the session was recorded but there were cameras...
English

@TMGB @elenaneira @YueWUK AI-native* is a "big ask" for 6G. R21 is due 2028
*Autonomous AI between device and network, across all protocols and layers
English

@elenaneira @YueWUK That was exactly the pitch. Or part of it at least

Bill was a legendary broadcaster and most importantly a superb human being. But his life was cruelly cut short by prostate cancer.
On Sunday 17 September 2023 @JeffStelling and hundreds of football supporters will march from Wembley to Wycombe Wanderers in honour of former BBC broadcaster Bill Turnbull.

Could imagine a company like Reliance Jio getting into RAN equipment in a big way. Open or not.
Published information is sparse, but if you're building one of the world's biggest networks and you're building base station equipment...

@keithdyer @disruptivedean @totaltelecom @RobDChambers Lol...
Of course, telecom's is short for telecommunications. Appropriate apostrophe for abbreviation.
English

@disruptivedean @totaltelecom @RobDChambers Might as well add it to @TMGB's list of telecoms origin story credits.
English

@jalonsozarate Agreed. Seen the vid before.
It only works because all the numbers are small. And it amounts to long multiplication.
We should ask for an example where this method is used for 987 x 9.
English

I find these methods terrible! Yes, they might get you to the right result, but you have no clue, no understanding, of the way to get to it. We need more people who understands why things work, and not just use them because they work. This also applies to technlology and #AI.
