At first, I thought he was talking about the real victims of failed public safety and immigration policies: people like Bethany MaGee, who was set on fire on a CTA train by a man with eight prior felony convictions and 72 arrests, and Sheridan Gorman, the Loyola freshman murdered by an illegal migrant who had previously been arrested but was still free. I thought maybe he was talking about Katie Abraham, a young student killed by an illegal drunk driver. Or perhaps the many women assaulted by Loop punchers, or the young woman gunned down in broad daylight 9n the South Side while her baby sat in a car riddled with bullets. Instead, he was talking about ICE agents enforcing federal law, laws that Illinois politicians have made difficult to enforce through sanctuary policies and rhetoric encouraging resistance and unrest in the streets. Mr. "If you come for my people, you come through me" shouldn't be complaining. ICE agents did what he forced them to have to do instead of simply handing over known dangerous criminals. Everything Pritzker does endangers ordinary citizens, and we've had more than enough of his reign of terror.
