Sometimes all you need are a few basic components, like pairing some FK chains with stretchy bones to create a bow and arrow. The bow and arrow is one of the assets you'll be working with inside the rigging course. Find out just how many things you can rig just with these 2 foundational components, it's more than you think! We're rigging the shoes too.. 😉 The cage you see around the shoe is called a proxy mesh, a simplified deformer that can act on more complex objects. @HeinzArts Yeah, the proxy mesh drives the base mesh via mesh deform modifier. Though it depends what you’re weight painting. Using a proxy mesh is just one strategy in some cases if the mesh has a lot of detail or is challenging to paint in other ways

@HeinzArts When a mesh has many complex pieces (especially when they’re not attached together) it can be challenging to do skin weights, so a proxy mesh can simplify that process by allowing you to deform the complex mesh using a simpler one.

@ChoySaDraws Yes sometimes you can project the weights from the proxy to the complex mesh instead of using a mesh deform modifier. We use both techniques in our rigs and in the lessons

If your eye geometry wobbles when rotating… this is probably why 👀 The pivot of your eye bone needs to be perfectly centered One tiny setup step can make your eyes rotate way cleaner • Use Shift + S menu to snap things to and from the cursor • Alt + Left Click to select edge loops on the eyeball • Snap the bone in edit mode to the dead center of the eye to ensure smooth rotations Only 1 day to go on Kickstarter 👉toanimate.ca/blender-riggin… #toanimate #rigging
