Britain invented free schooling for every child. 1560. 🇬🇧 Rich or poor. Every parish. Every child. The idea spread to America. To Africa. All around the world. It started with a man who spent 19 months chained to an oar on the North Sea. Be Proud Of Us. 🇬🇧

I am with the young British men and women who feel crushed under inflated house prices, stagnating wages, record tax burden and just generally a really piss-poor standard of living that is falling embarrassingly far behind countries we once competed with. My question to them is this... Is the status quo what you want? Because if it is, there are a variety of parties to vote for. If you want something radically different, and I mean radically, then Restore Britain is giving you that option. Ask yourself - does the current model work for you? Commuting two plus hours a day from some pokey flat in a part of London that increasingly resembles the third world? All to get taxed out of your arse for a job you hate, with no prospect of starting your own business or owning your own home because the rotten state takes so much of your cash? It is an awful deal. Earn a bit more money? Bang. Gone. Student loan. Paying hundreds each month just to keep on top of the interest. Initial loan never getting paid off, it just creeps up and up. Gather enough capital to start a small business? That’s a different world of pain. Regulations, taxes, an environment designed to bury any enthusiasm to build something better. It is just not worth the risk. HMRC takes such pleasure in making it as difficult as possible. Honestly, I hate those people so much. Young tradesmen and women all over Britain waking up at 5am, working 12 hours plus every day. Why? For what? For who? Losing almost half your earnings to fund some indolent slob who refuses to work? It’s not exactly the American dream, is it? Want children? One? Two? More? Childcare costs thousands and thousands a year. It’s unaffordable. It’s impossible. So, depressingly, many don’t even bother. What about a home? Ludicrous leasehold rules mean you’re just paying rent up front for decades. Getting screwed on the service changes that soar with no consultation. House prices booming whilst wages fall behind. The mountain to climb gets bigger and bigger. It is endless. Yet you’re told by people who bought their house for 40k and got university education for free that cutting down on the cappuccinos will solve all of your financial problems. Politicians like Farage tell you working from home is the problem, and that seeking a ‘work-life balance’ is somehow selfish. It is bullshit, to be honest. And I am fed up of it. It stinks. There’s this prevailing attitude with many people of my age that young men and women are lazy and refuse to put the hours in. That’s just not true. The system is crushing you. It kills ambition and suffocates aspiration. It all needs to change. All of it. Restore Britain doesn't want to reform the establishment, we want to smash it up. And yes, that will include a meaningful debate about a triple lock which creates division between the young and the old - because it simply isn’t financially sustainable in its current form. Restore Britain will have the courage to do what needs to be done, I promise you that. If you want more of the same - vote for it. Tories, Reform, Labour, Lib Dem. Go for it. Your choice. Same faces, same model, same decay. The Greens want to accelerate our transformation into a third world dump. If that’s what you want for Britain, Polanski is your man. Certainly don’t vote for Restore Britain. Because we are offering something entirely new. You now have a political party that is willing to take the difficult decisions to give you the opportunities that my generation had to achieve that same financial freedom so many of my age enjoy. Restore Britain is that party. We want a fundamentally different economic model. One that gives young British men and women the freedom to pursue their own goals - whether that’s building their family, business or own financial freedom. That’s what we’re about. We are going to be honest, and we are going to take the difficult decisions required to benefit us all, that very much includes the young Brits who for their entire lives have been ripped off by a decadent political establishment that cares about votes, and only votes. Restore Britain will treat you all with the respect and honesty you deserve. There is a political party that is finally your side. Restore Britain is on your side.

Energy is growth. But our energy costs are some of the highest in the developed world. We have to cut the cost of power and only the @Conservatives have a plan to do so. The British people are being squeezed, and our industries are being held back. This spineless Labour Government refuses to take the tough decisions needed to grow our economy. The Conservatives will scrap the carbon tax, paid for by getting Britain drilling. We will back British industry, level the playing field with foreign imports, and bring jobs and investment back to the UK. This will bring more jobs and growth to the economy, and cut costs for business. We believe in enterprise, in competitiveness, and in putting our national interest first. Only the Conservatives have a plan to get Britain working again: cut spending, cut tax and back business.

There’s a lot of fear around right now, and honestly, it’s understandable. All we ever seem to hear lately is how bad the UK is now. And I’m not going to pretend that isn’t true, because in many ways, it is. But here’s the part that doesn’t get said enough… I genuinely believe we will be okay. Not because everything is perfect, but because of the people. There are so many men and women across this country who care deeply. People who still believe in community, in fairness, in looking out for one another. People who haven’t lost that sense of responsibility, resilience, and pride in where they come from. We’ve always been a country that gets through difficult periods. Not by ignoring problems, but by facing them and pulling together. We just have to get through the next few years together. In the meantime, look out for one another. Keep talking to each other about what really matters, the things that need changing, the things people are starting to notice, and the things others are too afraid to say out loud. Build strong families, support your community, and don’t lose that sense of who we are. That hasn’t disappeared. If anything, it’s still there, just quieter, beneath all the noise. We are the majority, whether it’s said out loud or not. And when people remember who they are, what they stand for, and what really matters… That’s when everything starts to change, and you can already feel it beginning. 🩷

I’m not interested in offering the British people confetti and fireworks. It’s empty, it’s patronising. We are so far past easy solutions. Because what is necessary to fix our economy won’t be particularly pleasant. And actually, I think voters know that. Politicians underestimate the intelligence of the people. We don’t. Inflation isn’t just a fact of life. Food shops, tanks of fuel, pints, everything. It doesn’t always have to be more expensive. Political choices led us here, and they can also lead us out. To grasp inflation, to finally cut the cost of living, to make the country financially viable. None of that comes without pain. So if you’re expecting an easy ride, don’t vote for Restore Britain. You’re not going to get it. It will be a very bumpy road. Not everyone’s going to like it - a lot of very lazy people have got very comfortable living off productive Britain. That will end, and they will not like it. Restore Britain is a political party that is honest about what must lie ahead. There is no other way. Either this works, or it’s done. We are offering a way out. Because I refuse to leave a debt-ridden third world dump to my grandchildren. That’s why I’m doing this, that’s why Restore Britain exists. I hope you all feel the same way.

630 people drowned in the Irish Sea in one night. ⛵💀 A British man studied the data afterwards. And invented something that every single person on earth uses every single day. On 25 October 1859 the Royal Charter was hit by a hurricane off Anglesey. 450 people died. That same storm destroyed 133 ships and killed nearly 800 people around Britain in a single night. Robert FitzRoy was head of Britain's Meteorological Office. He went through every piece of data from that night. And he realised something that stopped him cold. He could have predicted it. 🌊 So he built a network of 15 coastal weather stations around Britain, each one connected to London by telegraph. Every morning they wired their readings in. Pressure. Temperature. Wind direction. Cloud. He began to see patterns nobody had ever seen before. On 1 August 1861 The Times newspaper carried something completely new. A prediction of tomorrow's weather. FitzRoy called it a forecast. Not a prophecy. A calculation. 📰 He hoisted storm warning cones at every major British port. When the cones went up, fishing boats stayed in harbour. Lives were saved. How many? Nobody will ever know. Today every country on earth publishes a daily weather forecast. Every app on every phone. Every "chance of rain" anywhere on earth. The word forecast itself. All of it invented by a British man who decided we would be prepared next time. 🇬🇧 This history has no budget. No broadcaster. No institution behind it. @clawrence @LLBiggers @shellenberger It's horses for courses. Big oil and those invested in Renewables would have you believe only their way is right. From logs to oil to solar panels they all have a place where they are most useful and efficient. A gallon of jet fuel actually contains about 12kWh of usable energy given the 70% losses in converting that chemical energy to turn the turbine. @shellenberger knows this, but intentionally misleads. Of course, fuel is still lighter than a battery. But, a battery can be reused for thousands of cycles. Fuel is burned once and then has to be refilled. How much energy to extract, refine, and transport that fuel to where you need it?

“A gallon of jet fuel contains 34 kilowatt-hours of energy in a package weighing six pounds. A lithium-ion battery storing the same energy weighs 250 pounds. That density gap is why every military on earth runs on liquid hydrocarbons, why every container ship crossing the Pacific burns bunker fuel, why every combine harvester in Iowa runs on diesel, and why every 747 landing at Heathrow runs on kerosene. The fact that nobody wages war over solar panels is evidence of their limitations not superiority.” —@Shellenberger open.substack.com/pub/public/p/2…

"At his funeral, six people came. He had helped start two revolutions." 💀 Thomas Paine was born in 1737 in Thetford, Norfolk. His family made corsets. He failed as a corset maker, a sailor, a tobacconist, a tax collector, and a teacher. England had nothing for him. At 37 he met Benjamin Franklin in London. Franklin handed him one letter of introduction and told him to go to America. He arrived in Philadelphia in November 1774 with almost nothing. 🌍 Two years later the American colonies were on the edge of revolt but most ordinary people still couldn't imagine breaking from the Crown. Paine sat down and wrote a pamphlet in plain English aimed at ordinary people, not politicians or kings. Common Sense. Published 10 January 1776. 100,000 copies sold in three months. 500,000 by the end of the year. In a country of two and a half million people. General Washington had it read aloud to his troops. Six months later, the Declaration of Independence. 🇺🇸 Paine gave away every penny of royalties to fund the Continental Army. Then he went to France. Wrote The Rights of Man in 1791, a direct challenge to hereditary power. The British government charged him with treason. He was already in Paris. The French Revolutionary government elected him to their National Convention. Then Robespierre had him arrested. He spent ten months in a Luxembourg prison cell waiting to be executed. He survived by chance. He came home to America in 1802. By then he was despised by the very establishment his ideas had helped create. He died in 1809, largely alone, in poverty, in a small house in New York. Six people attended his funeral. Half of them were formerly enslaved men who came to pay their respects. 🇬🇧 Human rights. Universal suffrage. The welfare state. Progressive taxation. All of it traces back to a corset maker's son from Norfolk who failed at everything England offered him. This history has no budget. No broadcaster. No institution behind it. Just the people who believe it deserves to exist. Support the channel: proudofus.co.uk/support 🇬🇧 Be Part Of Us. Be Proud Of Us. 🇬🇧

@higgyboson 25 years ago the CSA formula was I should be £10 per week better off than if I was on the dole. The govt have never had any concept of how any business, let alone a sole trader works. They start with how much can we tax you then you fight them back to what they'll accept.

I'm self employed. I've just worked out that I have to charge my customers over £900 per week in order to take home the equivalent yearly wage of someone on the new national minimum wage. So I need to charge over £1,000 per week to be £100 better off than a minimum wage earner. I have 12 individual costs associated with running my one man band business. No holiday pay. No money if I'm off work due to illness or anything else. And this doesn't even take into consideration all the time spent on visiting new customers, pricing work, producing quotes etc, some of which is a complete waste of time when you don't get the work. All time that can't be charged for. This is why, for many self employed people, it's just not worth it any more. I've been self employed for 30 years and it's never been this bad.

Having a Labour government is like being governed by people who don;t even live in Britain. But when you realise that hundred of Labour MPs have never had a real job, that's kinda true. They have no idea what makes Britain tick because they have no experience of living in the real world. The pressures and dilemmas people face are just things that happen to other people.
