@RenoDave6 @NBCSSharks @Sheng_Peng Sharks are not serious contenders for at least another 2-3 years. Why do you care if the prospect is ready for the NHL asap? It’s about who will be the best in their prime and will fit with what Grier is trying to build. You are building a team in the end not a fantasy team.

@NBCSSharks @Sheng_Peng None of top draft eligible D-men Reid, Carels, etc are NHL ready and won't be for at least 2 to 3 years and won't make an impact for at least 4 - 5 years. So unless the Sharks see a franchise type #1 d-man in these two, it's not worth the wait.

Interestingly, Claude Fable 5 is still terrible at answering basic strategy questions about video games. (Anybody who has played Bloodborne knows this suggestion makes absolutely no sense).

This offseason has been very enlightening in showing, from a purely speculation perspective, how little these insiders know about the Sharks. Their sources may be good, but between Bobrovsky, Nurse and now Larkin, these musings are nonsense.

@sanlosesharks From Sheng at the combine live, his vibes at this moment after talking with people in the industry, is that it's between Reid and Carels for the Sharks at #2. Definitely prefer Reid, I will be concerned if Carels is the pick. Feels like a lower ceiling and LHD are not as valuable

Chase Reid is a good pick for the Sharks at 2 and I WILL die on this hill. Our largest needs are 1. breaking the puck out to avoid being hemmed in, putting pressure on a blue line that isn't good enough to weather it and 2. covering for our mistakes/turnovers off the rush.

This has got to be the worst kind of defenseman profile to chase early in the draft. The NHL hasn't been able to project defensive ability well. And I don't think "shutdown defenseman now" = "shutdown defenseman in the NHL." Shutdown NHLers have diff. skillset as teens.

@rurounimod Carels points in the WHL feel inflated, his offense doesn't seem like it will translate to the NHL. Definitely prefer Reid over him, I feel he has a much higher ceiling. Carels feels very similar to Dickinson to me but more physical. High floor but low ceiling. I am concerned

Need to do more watching and digging but my current sense is that Carels over Reid would be a mistake. Have heard some encouraging things about Carels, but consensus is much more confident projecting Reid as an offensive force.

I am pretty sure that Stenberg is more likely to be an NHL star than the remaining forwards. I am not very sure that Reid will be better than Ryan Lin or Villeneuve or even Rudolph.
