Yesterday night my neighbour's wife locked him outside their flat and he stood for minutes knocking at the door. It was around 11 PM and the guy was practically begging through the keyhole. Apparently, he went out with his friends after work, ignored her calls, and completely lost track of time. By the time he crawled back home, the door was bolted from the inside. He kept knocking and whispering, "Babe please open up, people are sleeping I don't want to create noise, let me explain." The wife didn't even open the door. She just shouted through the window, "Go back to wherever you are coming from, you are sleeping out there tonight!" He ended up sitting on the steps for almost two hours before she finally opened up for him. I was just listening from my own flat, wondering how a whole grown man allowed himself to get grounded like a teenager. Be honest, if your partner locks you out of the house because you stayed out late, is it a fair punishment to teach you a lesson, or is it a tox!c boundary that should never be crossed? Let’s talk.

My wife called me around 2:00 pm on Sunday. Babe, I want to move my ₦1 million into a mutual fund. I replied, Why are you telling me? Go ahead now. Then she explained that the money was meant for some goods she wanted to order, but to avoid spending it, she'd rather invest it for now. Sounds responsible, right? Then came the real reason. So when they start production, you'll borrow me the money and I will refund you later. 😂😂😂 At that point, I just started laughing. After four years of marriage, I know this strategy very well. My wife has successfully tried different versions of this plan more times than I can count. What she calls borrowing me money usually means I become the emergency financier while she protects her investment. The funny part is that she explained it so confidently that it almost sounded like I was the one benefiting from the arrangement. Marriage will teach you things no business school can. Meanwhile, my husband uses a barber whose shop is about 40 minutes away from our house, but he’d rather make the trip than allow any other person touch his hair. Everyday, I questioned the thought process until my father-in-law’s burial in another state. Guess who showed up, his barber 🙂

My colleague rejected a ₦3 million gift his wife sent him because of the transaction narration. @kenkenlewu Does the man intend to stay in the house alone, so why does he want to kill himself to build it alone. If you see marriage as a partnership then the narration will not matter to you. My wife and I contributed equally to my first mortgage and I am glad she was able to help with it
