Free agent WR Alec Pierce has agreed to terms to remain in Indianapolis on a historic 4 year $114M deal that will make him the highest paid free agent receiver in NFL History. The deal negotiated by agents Mike Swenson and CJ LaBoy, came together overnight and contains $84m in guarantees, $60m fully guaranteed at signing, and a max package of $116M.

Per @AlbertBreer, the #Colts offered QB Daniel Jones a contract similar to the one Sam Darnold signed with the Seahawks (3 years $100.5 million). Jones’s camp counter offered a deal which would pay him around $50 million per year.

I am just going on what the Colts have said for months. They have seemed absolutely certain that Jones is their guy and that this team would’ve been a contender if healthy.
It would be weird to then let him walk to jump into a bad free agent pool instead.

@Schultz975 If you are far from certain your horse can run, isn’t it better to hop back on the carousel? This is a significant injury for a QB, especially one that struggles when he can’t use his legs as effectively. Throwing strength will also be less for at least the 2026 season.

How do you plan for the most important position in the sport using a transition tag? Do you need a replacement/starter ready if Jones is signed by another team. I guess the thinking is no one will offer him a deal so this is cheaper than a full tag. Just seems like the Colts have no clue what they are doing at QB for years now

Another tag: The Colts are placing the transition tag on QB Daniel Jones, per sources. The transition tag is $37.833M, more than $6M cheaper than the QB franchise tag, but gives Jones the opportunity to sign an offer sheet with another team that Indianapolis would then have the right to match.
