@musserryan Similar experience but with a family from my church that had moved down there. They didn’t have space, but they knew someone who did so I lived in someone’s basement way below market price for a summer. You just gotta ask and make something happen

When I got an internship in DC, I just cold-contacted alumni from my college and asked if they had a place I could stay. A family let me live in Gaithersburg for free, and then another family (not even alum!) offered their Arlington house and just asked for a hundred bucks/month

I think about this all the time. Similarly, my grandma sometimes will tell a story that starts “I was living in a different town, because I wanted a job, so I moved in with my mom’s cousin…” like you could just send your teen to live with a distant relative. No one does that now

@MattZeitlin This is the Novi/Northville/Plymouth/Canton line in metro Detroit lmao.

@H0tWireMyHeart @ownpstm Oklahoma state’s arena just has a fuckass camera angle no matter who’s producing. Definitely the arena, although it’s a sweet venue. There’s a few others that also have some messed angles. Temple, Boise St and Baylor come to mind
English

@ownpstm Idk if this applies here but I know a lot of universities use their own media production students and equipment to broadcast their games and depending on the architecture of the arena plus the budget the media team is working with, it can affect where you can set up your cameras
English

i’ve always wondered wtf was up with the camera angles at their home games

i totally get how it would be obscure in other countries however as a lifelong midwesterner the idea of st. louis being some secret undiscovered location has me cackling a little bit
Devin 🌱 Thomas O'Shea@devintoshea
more and more people in the United Kingdom are talking favorably about st. louis

Being afraid of the closest mid-sized city is an exurban tradition. It doesn't even have to be particularly left wing. I guarantee there's Indiana guys terrified of Terre Haute
Fender Belly@fender_belly
A lot of people are clowning on this, but I live very close to Asheville and have several family members who are genuinely scared of going there. It’s absurd, but it’s also a very real fear for many evangelicals. Like this is a sentiment I’ve heard for over two decades now.
