2027- Our pitchers and catchers will be able to use the electronic communication from the coach. Many of us wanted the entire defense to be able to use this if possible, but the 2027 rule is better than the 2026 rule. One step at time.... but we do thank everyone involved that keep improving the game for our student-athletes.

Lake Belton officially welcomed Taylor Ellis as its new head softball coach. Ellis spent the last four seasons as an assistant at Midway High, which will be a district rival of the Broncos. Ellis played softball at Baylor before her coaching career. @LBBroncoSB

I've also fixed the error when you forget to log off, but close your brower and then come back later. Hope this is a nice improvement to the site for you. Next goal is to correctly set up our poll nomination and voting process for next season. Last year, I couldn't get it to work right, but I found a fix for this and hopefully it will work and we can have our own coaches poll.

This is what the UIL says: All high school coaches must be full-time employees of the school district EXCEPTION: A retired teacher/administrator who has 20 or more years of experience may serve as an assistant coach in all athletics and as a head coach for golf, tennis, team tennis, cross country, track and field, and swimming. (This rule shall not affect the status of a coach on a leave of absence attending college.) Also, student teachers, while they are assigned to a participant school to fulfill their student teaching requirements, may volunteer to serve as an assistant coach in all athletics. Schools shall not pay student teachers for assisting athletic coaches.

No, the “old” rule stated a coach in Texas had to be a full time employee. The “new” rule states the coach must be a teacher.

Congratulations to Kristin and she is well qualified for this position at her alma mater. We worked together during the 2022 season when I was the interim and I gave her a lot of responsibilities hoping she would be a head coach in the near future and she did everything well. I continue to have confidence that she will be a successful head coach!

The one group missing from the conversation are us retired teacher/coaches with 20+ years of experience. There are quite a few that wouldn't mind going back just to coach as the demands for classroom and field/court are tough for us over 60. I taught and coached for 33 years and then did 5 at a private school. Those 5 years gave me energy back as I only worked 3-4 hours per day. I definitely would go back for a few more if all I had to do is coach.
