C.O.O.L. Clinic is LIVE! John Benton - Super Bowl Champion OL Coach Inside Zone Rico block vs. movement: Inside foot to the defender’s play-side foot. Second step in the ground. Outside hand through the shoulder. Take him where he wants to go. Trail blocker continues to the linebacker. When it’s right, the stunt clears itself. The Rico block becomes the point of attack.

A lot of coaches asked about our Tempo Drill… Credit to @coachshattuck - this is where we learned it. We start EVERY practice with it (5–10 min). It helps us get in the habit of starting fast. How it works: 📍 Ball starts on the 40 (right hash) 📍 Offense runs a play… whistle blows… then immediately sprints to the next spot 40 ➡️ 30 ➡️ 20 ➡️ 10 Alternating hashes every rep. Offense is working on: ✅ Tempo ✅ Communication ✅ Wristband operation ✅ Getting lined up + snapping fast ✅ Running as many plays as possible Defense is working on: ✅ Pursuit angles ✅ Lining up fast ✅ Running to the football ✅ Communication under stress Setup: • 1 coach spotting balls • OC calling plays • HC on the whistle • Position/JV coaches coaching or prepping next groups Tempo over quality.
