The Olu is not merely the political or traditional ruler of the Kingdom of Warri — he is the spiritual authority of the land. His position goes beyond governance; it embodies the sacred heritage and divine guardianship of the kingdom. His throne is both temporal and divine, carrying the weight of authority bestowed by heritage and sanctified by ancestral covenant.
The Olu stands as the head over every religious expression within Warri — whether it is the church, the Umale-Okun worship center, or any other deity shrine within the kingdom. All spiritual institutions operate under the dignity and supremacy of his throne. This spiritual supremacy is one of the core reasons he is deeply revered by the people.
The Olu is regarded as the earthly representative of Oritse, the Supreme Ruler of the universe, and Through him, the spiritual harmony, cultural continuity, and divine order of the Kingdom of Warri are preserved and upheld for generations past, present, and yet unborn.
