My late husband Vic was a prolific note writer and even though he is gone I still find notes from him. I stopped by our Culver City co-working office today and pulled out an old notebook and on the inside found this message from him. Just opened an old notebook here to find a note from Vic, my late husband. Such a lovely message from him to all of us! "Whatever is given to others is given to oneself. Who, knowing this, would not engage in generous service to the whole world? Actually we are. Perhaps we are always giving to the world. Sometimes negatively, sometimes positively depending on what we consider to be positive or negative. If we knew for certain that by engaging in generous service to others the benefit would also come to the givers, who would not make service to others a full-time occupation?" Vic was a beautiful spirit and light in the world and we all miss him every day. While it may seem odd to use the word "Power" in the context of Mindfulness, in my life I have found that fierce energy is needed at time to drive real change in the world. Women hold true power in the same way that the wrathful nature of Kali slices through illusions that obfuscate the truth and the power of Pele our Hawaiian mother of the volcano who is raging with fire now as she lays fertile soil for new and abundant life to emerge.
