@HDCJean @JewToTheRescue @DreAllDay Ill mostly agree with that. But if we were to measure, id still argue all day that Bams was much much more shameful, and less impressive. Broke the FT record and attempt record, and own team was intentionally fouling up 20+ pts late. Just makes bball look bad imo.
English

@T_Diddy6 @JewToTheRescue @DreAllDay Kobe shot every one of his teams FG in the last 7 mins. His last 7 points were by FT in that game. They were force feeding him the ball. There’s no ethical way to score 80+ points. Either you’re shot chucking. Driving to the basket hoping to get fouls.
English

Bam scored 83 points last night.
And it still doesn’t belong in the same conversation as Kobe’s 81.
Here’s why.
1) Numbers without context are meaningless. Process determines value.
2) It IS impressive to score 83 points in a basketball game. You must take shots, and they must go in the basket.
HOW you get the points, however, also matters.
3) Bam’s 83 ≠ nor greater than Kobe’s 81.
Kobe, as Kobe told the story, got pissed off because his team was losing. He caught fire and was scoring against intentional defense.
Kobe’s points were a byproduct of competition.
Bam’s points were the objective.
4) Bam / MIA was chasing Kobe for this manufactured Stats Slop.
Stats Slop = numbers created for narrative value rather than competitive necessity.
5) When a player scores this many points he is “on fire”, taking— and making— more shots than usual.
This applies only to the first half for Bam’s feat. After halftime, he was chasing stats.
Also —
6) Dwayne Wade recently stated that there’s no “buzz“ in the City of Miami for the team.
He was right.
Buzz is created through having 1. A contending team and 2. Box-office level players.
Nothing about last night changes the reality that the Heat have neither.
Buzz is like being famous. If you have to *argue* that there’s buzz, there’s no buzz.
7) What happened last night reflects what’s happening in society, not just basketball.
Storylines and outcomes clearly & intentionally manufactured. Surface-level people paid to make it seem like it matters arguing that it should be respected *just because it happened,* while tell us to not trust our lying eyes and ignoring the process that led to it.
We increasingly reward appearances instead of processes.
This deposit is rejected.
Bottom Line: If you respect the process, you understand the difference.
If you only respect the number, you won’t.

@HDCJean @JewToTheRescue @DreAllDay But again kobes team didn't intentionally fouling the other team 3 times in 16 seconds to get those points. And idc what wilt did 64 years ago. Basketball has changed quite a bit since then.
English

@T_Diddy6 @JewToTheRescue @DreAllDay Chasing stats in the context of breaking a record has always been apart of basketball . Wilt’s teammates literally did the same thing. They were fouling Knick players. Kobe was also chasing the record of 2nd most points, although it didn’t come by FTs. He was chucking late.
English

@HDCJean @JewToTheRescue @DreAllDay Soooo he had 77 and they were up big and they wanted to chase kobes 81 so they Intentionally fouled the wizards to get the ball back for him to break it. Thats chasing stats and not basketball.
English

@T_Diddy6 @JewToTheRescue @DreAllDay They fouled on only 2-3 possessions. By then Bam had 77 points. Less than 2 mins left in the game and btw Heat did that in response to wizards intentionally fouling the other Heat players to keep the ball from Bams hands.
FSPN@FSPN_NEWS
@fuccjesus @DaeKnowSumn @RealShotgunSuge Naa you just stupid , two extra possessions is all Bam needed
English

@HDCJean @JewToTheRescue @DreAllDay I deleted original bc something on it was inaccurate. But one thing ill stick to is that kobes team wasnt intentionally fouling a losing team down 20+ just to stop the clock. All arguments are over right there. Thats just not basketball.
English

@JewToTheRescue @T_Diddy6 @DreAllDay Okay and Bam style of play was exactly how he got his points. One is an iso primary ball handler. Bam is a defensive center that was bullying his way to the basket/foul line. Both ironically made 7 threes

Kobe Bryant outscored the 1st seed Mavericks 62 to 61, in 3 quarters about 20 years ago. Phil Jackson asked Kobe if he wanted to stay in and chase history. Kobe said No. Phil took him out after 3 quarters. Kobe got 81 3 weeks later when they actually needed it to win the game.
Imagine Kobe staying in the game vs. the Mavs for the 4th quarter, being up 20+, and his teammates intentionally fouling the mavs so the Lakers could get the ball back, to force feed Kobe shots.
😂 nah. That was disgusting.

So basically if you’re an NFL player, do NOT listen to your coach if they are a first time HC or haven’t won the Super Bowl, especially if you’re a young QB. Got it
