Leviticus is full of the gospel. One of the chapters we read today in Bible in One Year, Leviticus 16, is especially rich in this regard.
A central detail in the chapter is the use of two goats. The high priest casts lots over them: one is designated for Yahweh, the other for Azazel.
Azazel is often translated “scapegoat,” a term coined by William Tyndale in 1530, meaning the “escape goat,” the one that carries away sin. However, Azazel is likely a reference to a desert demon.
What happens to the two goats?
The goat for Yahweh is sacrificed, and its blood is brought before the Lord in the inner sanctum to make atonement.
The other goat, the one for Azazel, is kept alive. The high priest lays his hands upon it and confesses over it all the sins of the people. It is then sent away into the wilderness, bearing those sins with it.
Sins are not only atoned for; they are removed. They are returned to the wilderness, to Azazel, cast back into the realm of evil itself. No longer resting upon the people, sins are carried away.
All of this is a ritual sermon that preaches Christ to us.
By his sacrifice, our sins are not only forgiven but taken away. As Hebrews declares, “he has appeared once for all…to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself” (9:26).
Our sins are no longer upon us. We stand clean. We stand forgiven.
All because of Christ.

The Small Catechism: The Sacrament of the Altar
The Sacrament of the Altar
As the head of the family should teach it in a simple way to his household.
What is the Sacrament of the Altar?
Answer: It is the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, under the bread and wine, for us Christians to eat and to drink, instituted by Christ Himself.

The Washington Post wrote an article called, “Muslims Shouldn’t Have to Assimilate to Belong.” It states that Muslims might be more resistant to assimilation due to their commitment to Sharia Law. Let me make this clear: Sharia Law and the United States CANNOT stand side by side. If you are tolerating something that treats women, minorities, and gay people the way Sharia Law does, then you are doing more damage to our nation than you realize.

The very first five books of the Bible were written by the guy who met Jesus in the burning bush.

Listening to The Good, the Bad and the Ugly performed live by The Danish National Symphony Orchestra is surreal 🎺🎻
Ennio Morricone’s wild whistles, iconic guitar riffs, and the legendary “aouuu” come alive with the full power of the orchestra.
It feels like the Wild West is unfolding before your eyes—without a screen. Pure cinematic chaos, perfectly performed live.

"Blessed Eastertide!
We just finished a sanctuary renovation. We figured it was perfect timing for us to retire our old banners and buy new. We bought our new banners from Ad Crucem. We love them! The material is absolutely fantastic. The color is gorgeous. Everyone said they were beautiful and really made the new space something extra special. I've attached a couple of pictures so that you can see how much the banners add to our new space. The "red" banners worked perfectly with our scarlet paraments for Passion Sunday and Maundy Thursday. The Easter stained glass banners looked beautiful with all of the lillies.
Thank you!

250 years ago, thirteen colonies laid the foundation for the greatest and most enduring democracy in the history of the world.
One driven by courage, faith, and freedom. From that moment, we became a nation defined not by where we stood, but by how far we were willing to go. We conquered vast frontiers, invented tools that shaped the modern world.
We found light in the dark, and we rose from the earth. Faster, higher, farther, we pushed beyond the sky and into the unknown. We carried our courage into the cosmos, and we planted the American flag on the moon, the defining achievement of American superiority in space.
Today, our curiosity stretches farther than ever. American robots search ancient rivers on Mars. New telescopes unfold to glimpse the first stars. And a new generation prepares to return to the moon, this time to stay.
For 250 years, America has carried the light of humanity forward. But American exceptionalism isn’t inherited, it’s earned. Our greatness comes not only from what we’ve done, but what we’re still determined to discover. Because in every era, across every horizon, America is at its best when it’s reaching for something greater.
America celebrates 250 years, and we are leading the world into the future.
