@tzuianalyse Interesting thread. Clear thought process behind it, along with some outside-the-box ideas for strengthening the full-back department. Great work! 👏🏻

@TacticsTI Stuttgart really wanted to make it 1on1 all over the pitch. In the 2nd half Kompany went back with more fluidity in the build-up, he also stretched our build-up wide as you could see Pavlovic often went to the left sideline. Very similar approach to the Atalanta game.
English

Only small nuances that change whole matches. The way Bayern can play these one-twos even with their centre-backs opens up and completely breaks the opponent’s man-marking.
Upamecano steps higher while Kimmich stays deeper. Laimer has dragged Mittelstädt away. In the end, Olise gets to turn on the ball for the first time with space, drives inside into the central area and wins a foul.
Stuttgart aren’t fully set defensively for the situation that follows: Olise delivers a quality ball into the box and Harry Kane is left free. 1-0. After that, there was only Bayern.

@nanakweso9 @FCB_MICH_AEL And they had the fitness for that Bayern shuffling but it was all about staying patient on the ball too.
English

@TacticsTI @FCB_MICH_AEL In the 2nd half the seamless and fluid movements coupled with high tempo passing was very pleasing too watch. Upamecano was everywhere man. In the 1st half we were mostly slow lacked movements off the ball so it was easy for Stuttgart to press m2m without any downsides.
English

Stuttgart were excellent in the first half, and Bayern’s struggles looked really significant.
Then Harry Kane stepped up. The best attacking player in the world. Truly elite players can sometimes erase these tactical advantages that Stuttgart undeniably had in the first half.
A deserved win for Bayern and the completion of the domestic double. Kompany has been unbelievable, but Hoeneß deserves huge credit as well. What he gets out of that Stuttgart squad is absolutely exceptional.

@TacticsTI It was clear from Minute 30 that Stuttgart wouldnt be able to sustain that press. They tried it 4 times This Season against us. I was watchkng together with a Stuttgart Fan yesterday and he said the same thing. The Game plan only works for 45-70minutes against Bayern when you are
English

@hanad1107 Others just need to find them. They did try to make them selves available. Musiala/Olise no chance today. Not a single easy turn so far for them.
English

@TacticsTI They know our full backs are our weakest and feel like every hard match. the opponent uses that against us
English

Bayern tried to disrupt Stuttgart’s man-marking by constantly shuffling players over the pitch. Stuttgart happily lets Urbig have the ball, since Bayern does not have alot movement behind their defensive line apart from Luis Diaz.
If they avoid mistakes, Stuttgart should theoretically tire with this gameplan eventually, but based on the first half it’s honestly hard to say they even look that fatigued.
Bayern simply aren’t threatening Stuttgart’s line enough, nor are they committing enough players into those areas. Urbig’s long balls have been aimless, and Musiala, Kane, and Olise clearly aren’t at their best in the kind of tactical battle these Stuttgart-Bayern matches tend to become. Tennis with Goalkeepers.
Bayern need to find Stanisic and Laimer more effectively. Stuttgart’s structure leaves spaces that Bayern’s fullbacks often interpret well, but so far they just haven’t been found consistently enough.

@BenniFussball6 But currently, even Jackson should help. Also Gnabry helped alot in balance. Just weird thing to say.
English

@ballorientiertc Yeah got better in the end. Hendriks & Andres amazing performancw against Musiala & Olise. Not a single easy turn with the ball for them.
English

@TacticsTI Stanisic had already made a few good runs in the 15 minutes leading up to halftime
English

Yeah better on the ball, much worse without it. But you have to gamble imo. There’s no other XI of German players that are that much better off-the-ball that it would made any more sense. Just ainowledge that they have to win with ”boring” 1-0s with loads of posession and dependance on the quality with the ball and maximize it. It CAN work in a international tournament. Just dont lose the ball too much and play too naive.
English

@TacticsTI The build up structure of Germany is even better than at Bayern because at LCB we have Schlotti instead of Tah or Pavlovic, who so can be the anchor in front of the back 3.
I still think that Kimmich's lack of athletism can be rather hidden as DM than at RB.
English

Kimmich plays the same way regardless of which position he plays in. His defending and athleticism are what they are in both positions. The tactical build-up strategy is built around him anyway. I assumed this endless #6/RB nonsense debate would have been dropped already.

English

@Julianfutbl And it being leaky is not only a XI solution. If they want to win everybody must show the willingness to run up and down these 3-7 games.
English

@Julianfutbl Yeah in that part you are correct, but again that issue is somewhere else. Not Kimmich.
English

Uli Hoeneß picks his Germany XI for the World Cup from the current squad: 'Raum at right back not ideal but Kimmich should be in midfield - rates Brown - fan of Sané but he's currently out of confidence, Karl not yet ready to start, hence Leweling - fan of Havertz but Woltemade is more of a striker'
@derspiegel

English

@caupolican_13 Yeah that XI is as unrealistic as it gets, but Kimmich is the same
English

@TacticsTI Unfortunately, Nagelsmann will play Sane instead of Karl. He doesn't have the courage to put Karl.
