During @WHO’s official Walk the Talk event, the host saw us & read our sign out loud in front of thousands of people at @UNGeneva: “Pour assurer la santé de tous, Taïwan peut aider !” (“For the Health of all, Taiwan can help!”) Taiwan deserves this kind of recognition everywhere.

@AndyBxxx @UN Thank you for saying that Taiwan belongs to the Taiwanese ppl. In that case, wouldn't you also agree that the people have the right to decide on their own future? Shouldn't it be the Taiwanese people from whom you should be seeking opinions on Taiwan? Just some food for thoughts.

Taiwan will always belong to the people of Taiwan — who said it wouldn’t? Just like Shanghai belongs to the Shanghainese people and Guangdong belong to the people of Guangdong. But it IS a province of China. Why don’t you read the Constitution of the “Republic of China” and see what it says there.

One thing China can say in response to this is “of course Taiwan does not have to be a province of China, it can be an autonomous region or special administrative region of China instead” So the clearer wording to convey what appears to be meant here would simply be “Taiwan is not China”.

@chiman321 @UN Taiwan does not need to declare independence from the PRC as it's never even stepped foot on Taiwan. It is independent as it is. The UN also has the power to offer TW some international space, ie. Taiwan was a WHA observer member before 2016. They don't have to listen to China.

The Taiwanese students made sure that wherever KMT Vice President of the Parliament, Johnny Chiang, went during his trip in Geneva, he would be photographed with either a '#Taiwan Independence' flag or a 'Withdraw the KMT Bill' sign. Thank you for your support, Johnny!

“Taiwan” is nowhere to be found in 1971’s #UNGA Res. 2758, nor is #Taiwan🇹🇼 a province of #China. The @UN misinterprets it, we don’t & the world shouldn’t. We must stop #Beijing from exploiting this as carte blanche to claim any territory it desires.

While 80K Taiwanese march in front of the parliament to preserve democracy and human rights, @UN is fuelling conflict. It was China that simulated a full-scale attack and initiated military exercises around #Taiwan, irrationally provoking and escalating tension—not us.

@UN This incorrect @UN claim, now seen as a victory by China, is spreading like wildfire across the Chinese internet. China is emboldened by the UN adopting their interpretation repeatedly. The @UN is unnecessarily encouraging war in the region. Please stop & think about the TW ppl.

@UN The 1971 resolution recognises the PRC as the rep of China, but it doesn't address TW's status, nor does it authorise Beijing to represent Taiwan in the UN. Taiwan is not mentioned once in the resolution. There's no need for the @UN to adopt China's interpretation of the text.
