Acquiring new planes is a global challenge. PIA needs to get fleet ready first and foremost. Cut extra fat, establish positioning (cargo is a great area to focus), upgrade tech infrastructure, modernize organization at all levels etc. Its a marathon not sprint no matter who the owners are or how influential they are in PK. Airline is a different business.

Fixing PIA is the challenge. From what I have read, even before the new owners take over they are declaring going public in a year. Airline isnt desi Seth business. It has complexities and strict regulatory environment. Flipping to middle eastern carriers is not possible in mid term even.

Air India was acquired by Tata. Their top 3 business are enterprise tech, automobiles and Steel. MIG bought Olympic Airlines. They’re principally owned by a bank. The key is to have a clean strategy for profitability so you need to be able to look at numbers strategically, and an airline partner or aviation expertise via killer management team. Fly Jinnah is doing well because of the Air Arabia partnership. Key for PIA ownership will be same. My personal take is they will fix PIA and flip it to Etihad, Qatar, Saudia or Emirates.

Indian diaspora is the biggest in middle Eastern countries yet there are multiple airlines operating to each of the middle Eastern indigo, air india express etc. Focus on getting landing rights back, operate multiple flights daily from KLIP. This is not competing with airlines with 150+ destinations. You will need few years to make this happen. This will require PIA to get more aircrafts - that's another challenge. PIA will need to upgrade it's tech infrastructure - world has moved fast and airlines are taking on bigger challenges. Next step would be to form alliances with these airlines - code share partnership etc. PIA will have to rationalize the number of ppl working for the company. All of this will require a heads down and execute strategy. Not loud claims of listing before first step is taken.

@TalhaIzhar @FaseehMangi Middle Eastern carriers are PIAs biggest competitors! They will never want to partner with PIA but to bleed it dry. We need to go where the diaspora is and offer a better value proposition. Customers would come automatically.
