Oddly, @Gregorywaters writes in his new report sectarian-motivated attacks in Talkalakh were the first in many weeks." Here is a list of some of the sectarian attacks that have filled those weeks. 1. Dr Ali Ahmad - kidnapped in Homs January 31 2. 5 Druze young men - killed or wounded in al-Mtuneh village in al-Suwayda while working their land. 3. Dr Ramez al Ali kidnapping of in Damascus from his clinic in al-Sha'lan. 11. Adnan Sobhi Krish - young Shiite shot dead while collecting wild mushrooms on January 30 near his village Al-Ghour al-Gharbi, in western Homs. 12. 7 Alawites killed or wounded when gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on an arcade cafe in the Alawite-majority area of Ayn al-Khadra in Tall Kalakh (West Homs), Syria, February 3.

Are #Kurds, #Druze and #Alawites Considered Enemies by the Syrian Government and state authorities? According to this video they are. The leader of this funeral calls for "victory over Syria's enemies -- the Mulahida ملاحدة (Kurds) the Druze, and the Alawites." They are buring a soldier from Rastan, Homs, who has recently fallen. H/t @daleelmedia The epithet "mulaheda" (Arabic: ملاحدة, plural of mulhid—literally meaning "atheists" or "heretics") is used as a derogatory term to refer to Kurds in Syria, particularly by Islamist groups. It is used by groups such as ISIS and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham who brand the Kurdish-led forces (such as the YPG and SDF) as "mulaheda" to delegitimize their socialist-leaning, secular governance in the Rojava region, which these groups view as contrary to Islamic law. The term is applied to various groups considered "deviant" or "apostate" from mainstream Islam. Machine gun fire cut down five Alawite nurses in their taxi as they prepared to go home at the end of their shift at Al-Kindi Hospital outside of Homs. They were the only Alawites to work in Al-Kindi Hospital and shared a taxi everyday. Hard to explain these killings as anything other than sectarian hatred.

He joined the General Security in Idlib, and was assigned to Palmyra. The attacker tried to reach the meeting room in the headquarters of the General Security in Palmyra (formerly the Military Security headquarters) where senior officers are present, and in the corridor he clashed with the American guards and the translator and blew himself up. Security sources confirmed to me that Syrian intelligence, along with the Coalition forces, arrested six elements from the General Security at the headquarters in Palmyra, accused of coordinating the operation with him, and it is said that they are from the group that moved with him from the desert to the General Security in Idlib. Syrian security was unable to identify his previous affiliation with the organization, and there are hundreds like him, due to the large numbers who joined and which the security apparatus needed after the fall of the regime.
