@TalulahRiley I’ve seen quite a few technologies develop, but none with this level of risk. AGI is significantly higher risk than nuclear weapons, in my opinion.
Super smart humans have trouble imagining something vastly smarter than themselves.

Most people I speak to suffer from combo of normalcy + survivorship bias when discussing AI; lots of “oh, but jacquard looms/printing press/automation/internet etc. etc.”
I keep being told that history is cyclical by people working to a timescale of “history” as post-Industrial revolution and who ignore concept of singularity/previous mass-extinctions/current extinctions/entropy etc.
And lots of people aren’t even aware of what’s happening! There should be massive public discourse. Need the equivalent of Greta Thunberg for AGI to step forward…
