@XRPee1983 And of course, we would get this concept done even better with Pokemon Gen 2 in Gold/Silver/Crystal, since you can even visit most locations from the first games, and see how the in-universe time skip has changed the locations and characters.

@XRPee1983 Fun fact: The bottom left of this map is the same area the first Zelda took place in. You can see the two rocks representing Spectacle Rock and Death Mountain, the two lakes, and the forests. Just shows the scale of Zelda 2; always thought this was cool for sequels to do.

@ZeldaAnecdotes I think the GBC version looks the best between these still; it looks sharper and has the better colours. Almost looks like Link is in the middle of a fog in the remake, instead of it being clouds in the background like the older ones, lol. Also Link having orange hair was good~

@animathias This is one of those games where the Genesis version was the better one to play. Specifically because the Genesis has a higher screen resolution (320x240) compared to the SNES (256x224), so you can see further ahead of Simba, lol. Music was punchier on the Genesis too UuU

I loved The Lion King for SNES. I don't know how I beat it. When it was later confirmed that it was made quite hard to mitigate rentals, it all made sense Outside of that, the game is very good. Stages are fun to explore with tons to find. It looks and sounds amazing #RetroGaming

@warper2509 It was a major step up from the first game; I love how more animated the characters are in battle ^^

Muito se fala da pixel art de Breath of Fire 3 e 4, mas o segundo game também tem sua beleza:

@warper2509 I don't think it's the technical peak of the system, but it is still good looking :) For a true hardware push of the GBA, look at Asterix and Obelix XXL, which is a full 3D platformer game on the system. youtube.com/watch?v=b0pknb…

@warper2509 But Minish Cap doesn't give me that look at any point in the game. Even the massive Minish-sized assets, like in these images, seem to be hand-crafted pixel art, or at least cleaned up, and not just some blurry and very compressed looking image, which I think is wonderful <3

@warper2509 This and the Oracles are very fun. One thing I very much appreciate about Minish Cap, is ALL of the assets seem to be pixel art. Too many SNES and GBA games especially, did the thing of taking a screenshot of the source material and then compressing it to hell to put in-game.

@BigNick62385 @16bitnostalgia I do Seasons 1st, Ages 2nd, because the extra linked game story seems to benefit the progression of Ages' narrative the most, especially with Zelda showing up. Ages has the more involved story between the two games naturally as well; Seasons is more hands-off comparatively.

@16bitnostalgia Both games are awesome. Does everyone have a preferred order to play them, whether it be Oracle of Seasons 1st and Oracle of Ages 2nd or Oracle of Ages 1st and Oracle of Seasons 2nd? I like both, but I mostly do Ages 1st, Seasons 2nd, because Seasons was a bit harder for me.

@alexaugerdev The only thing annoying about Crown Dungeon for me was the music; it's way too short of a loop! Longer than Zelda 1's dungeon theme I suppose, but could be longer, lol.

@alexaugerdev I liked these gameplay wise, but I can see why making the mini game mandatory put people off, lol. I guess it's always been mandatory to some extent, since Link's Awakening (Yoshi Doll), but I did always feel like mini-games should be relegated to just being optional content.

@OnThisDayGaming My favourite 2D Zeldas; I really wish they'd get a remake, so we can hear what updated arrangements of their soundtracks would sound like. There are some amazing fan-made updates, but officially, we still only have the 8-bit OST; would love to hear Tarm Ruins orchestrated~

@FoxGreyhead @warper2509 True, and pixel art doesn't have to be low-res either. Just look at the huge, fluidly animated sprites from Street Fighter Alpha, for example; they still blow many pixel art based modern games out of the water, in terms of quality, and those games are almost 30 years old.

@warper2509 "Pixel Art" is a medium, not an artstyle. No one says "I love music". They like specific songs from specific musicians.

@huckori I like the ambient lighting here, and the bounciness of his hat and ears during the walking and rolling looks good. Makes me wonder if the other "loose parts" should also be moving while he moves, like his hair and shirt collar/tunic edges? Also shouldn't his hair be orange?

@Templozeldero Exactly; good graphics are those that really bring out the personality and life of the characters. It doesn't need realism, it needs care and attention to details like this. Link has 3 separate waking up animations in this game, which wasn't NEEDED, but gives us this <3.

@MemoryCardFiles This is exactly the perfect example of what "good graphics" really are. Link has 3 waking up animations in this game, and this is one of them with Ezlo. They didn't HAVE to do this, but doing so really makes the characters feel alive, and exude personality!
