@BasilTheGreat I'm more concerned about her utter lack of speaking skills. It's not even oratory skills as those are clearly beyond her reach. And this is supposedly the world's best debating society...

WOW. A student at the Oxford Union tells Tommy Robinson he is lucky they've put security on for him otherwise their Pro-Islam supporters outside would beat him to death This is the Oxford Union, how far it has fallen as an institution when this is the sort of argument made

This Government is bearing down on small boat crossings. More than 1,900 traffickers and gang leaders who helped to facilitate Channel crossings have been arrested in the last year alone, 74% more than the previous year.

Despite recent images circulating on social media around the work of French law enforcement to prevent small boat crossings, they do not represent the full picture. Over 46,000 small boat Channel crossing attempts have been prevented since July 2024. The UK Government is bearing down on small boat crossings, with removals of small boat migrants at record levels and asylum claims down by 12%. The Home Secretary has signed a landmark new payment by results deal with France to boost enforcement action on beaches and put people smugglers behind bars. And almost 70,000 people who were here illegally have been removed or deported – an increase of 41% – and we are going further to remove the incentives that draw illegal migrants to this country.

@King0243_PJC It's part of Spain, just as Gibraltar is part of the UK. End of. You're the one who needs a geography lesson.

Quick geography lesson for the outrage machine. Ceuta is a Spanish autonomous city that sits on the north coast of Africa and has a land border with Morocco. It’s closer to Tangier than it is to mainland Spain. Getting to the Iberian Peninsula means crossing the Strait of Gibraltar. Calling a land crossing into Ceuta “migrants broke into Spain” without that context is… creative. Robert Jenrick appears to have thrown the map away. 😂

Morocco didn’t send 40,000 of its own people into Ceuta and Melilla all at once, with no food or shelter, by accident. They are using their people to take over Ceuta and Melilla. Now they are breaking in homes, looting, and setting fires, while the people living there are helpless. Pedro Sánchez has still refused to declare an emergency.

@DrEliDavid Spain occupies 23 islands and rocky islets off the Moroccan coast. The most notable include the Chafarinas Islands (Isla del Congreso, Isabel II, and Isla del Rey), Alborán Island, Perejil Island, Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera, Peñón de Alhucemas, Peñón de Tierra, and Peñón del Mar

@kunley_drukpa 350,000 Moroccans marched into Spanish-ruled Spanish Sahara in 1975's "Green March" and took it over. Most went home because there is practically nothing there. Now Morocco runs it but the small number of locals fight back. Being mad at Morocco over W. Sahara is Emily Wilson-tier

Left is a planned substation for HS2 in Euston, faced in steel – typical grim British institutional architecture of the 2020s, not so bad as something from the 1960s, but pretty bad nonetheless. Windowless buildings are a genuinely tricky design problem, but I thought the great Safavid mausolea might help us out. Pretty good results, I think? All achieved with nothing but coloured clay tiles.

Next week is the anniversary of Hiroshima. Today, the Prime Minister has announced more investment in weapons of mass destruction. The UK spends £12,000 every minute on nuclear weapons. Imagine if we spent that money on social care, schools and the NHS instead.
