Finally started filling the scene with more details What do you think this scene still needs? #indiedev #indiegame

@playguildmaker These systems require pretty complex unit AI. How did you manage to optimize it for huge amounts of entities?

Small detail but adventurers have the same access to merchants and their items as much as you do. Therefore whatever you can buy from others, they can too. Clip below shows two warriors gearing up for their quests. They buy new armour and equip them:

@Sus0Person Increased foliage instances amount by around 20%. I guess it looks a bit better but I am not quite sure it fixes the noisy look you were talking about

@TangaraDeV lovely, but can you add a little smoothing? the whole mass of leaves now looks a little noisy, with little specks of the ground beneath peeking through the gaps

@Sus0Person It's actually a good question. Technically there is no such problem, it can be done by increasing leaves instances amount or by redrawing leaves texture to have less transperent space I am not quite sure if this is necessary right now however

@WeVennStudios I'd say the new one feels much less spherical. The foliage around the edges breaks up the perfect sphere silhouette and makes it look pretty fluffy from any angle. The only downside is that it costs more polygons and takes more time to model.

@TangaraDeV ooh... leaf silhouette fix… which density still read least spherical?

Even though these changes may look minor, I'd say they fix the look of the leaves for me, making the silhouette less spherical and the foliage less compressed Also foliage shading looks way better imo Which variant do you prefer? #3D #pixelart #indiedev #indiegame

@WeVennStudios Thank you! Everything you see here, including the trees, is actually made of 3D models. The pixel art look comes from the rendering pipeline

I'm not really sure how I feel about this tree It feels like it's missing a few small details or maybe a couple of color accents What do you think? #pixelart #indiedev #indiegame

One of the interesting ideas I am currently testing is layered leaf spheres. Using darker variants of leaves materials for inner layers I'd want to create a stronger sense of volume for my bushes and trees #3D #pixelart #indiedev
