By definition, the Annual Percentage Yield (APY) includes annual compounding, which distinguishes it from the Annual Percentage Rate (APR), which does not account for compounding. We calculate APY by applying per-epoch compounding within selected intervals (1H, 24h, 7d, 30d), a process that occurs on the network level, and then annualizing the results. If needed, APR can be derived from APY for comparison using straightforward mathematical calculations. Historically, we have focused on displaying the APY metric rather than APR. This approach helps users understand the actual annualized yield they can achieve, assuming that yields remain stable over time.

@TaoYield @too_da_moon_ Why does a 24h rate with yearly compounding added in? The rate is never going to be the same 24h later, never mind compounding over a year. Is that a tad irresponsible?

@TaoYield Are you sure the APY estimates shown on the site are 100% accurate? Taostars shows lower staking returns for the same pairs token/validator.
