As for the job losses, anecdotally I am hearing that staff is often being reduced by attrition and slowed hiring, rather than layoffs or firings. I still think the post is a good read.

@Hunter_Weiss Interesting read. Something big is happening. But. Capability is moving much faster than adoption. Technology can scale exponentially; economies, institutions, and trust cannot. Before mass job loss, expect long cycles of reorganization—not overnight replacement.

To the Nifty Gateway community, Thank you for your feedback on the recently announced closure of the platform. It is our goal to conduct the process of closing Nifty Gateway in a smooth and orderly way and that all of our customers are able to move their NFTs to their wallet of choice and have access to them in perpetuity. Below is an update on the closure process: ✅ Our plan is to migrate the metadata and media hosting on Nifty Gateway to a permanent, decentralized solution on Arweave. There is a subset of NFTs created in 2021 or before with metadata that is permanently linked to Nifty Gateway’s servers. For these NFTs, we will continue to host this metadata in perpetuity. ✅ We are extending the deadline for moving assets to a 90 day window, with a deadline of April 23, 2026. After this date, if customers have not moved their assets off the platform we will continue to work with customers to make sure that they are able to move their NFTs to their wallet of choice. ✅ We are working on a bulk withdrawal tool for our customers who have multiple NFTs on our platform and will be rolling it out shortly with plenty of time to use the tool before the April 23 deadline. We continue to be grateful to the Nifty community for joining us on this journey. 🩵

@bryanbrinkman Nifty folding did kinda shake me, I admit. They were evangelists of the whole space, and them cutting-and-running does not fill me with optimism.

Lots of doomerism about NiftyGateway, mostly because the metadata is pointing to the servers and the team is being coy about what will happen to hosting. They do have the ability to point to the metadata to the ipfs in the contract, prob could even be automated. Or give us artists contract control. Which they have done already with a few folks. Maybe @tyler can help calm the fears? Lots of people want to help preserve valuable art, let’s make sure NG lasts as an important part of the history of digital art.

I then checked the chat history with “friend” and it of course was not there. They even overfilled the initial reach out to hide the lack of history.

@jediwolf @MetaMask @Ledger I do feel this. When I see absolute expert gurus getting hacked I don’t want to sign ANY kind of contract. I’ve left money on the table for things because of this. Airdrop claims on NFT wallets, that kind of thing.

How long will we pretend that signing BS transactions in MetaMask which no one understands is not an issue?! Billions have been lost in all kinds of hacks. @MetaMask and @Ledger can you finally do something about this?
