@MetService wave warning expected to be around 6-7m possible west of New Plymouth to Cape Egmont, easing Sunday evening into early Monday morning. Cyclone Dovi started to move onto the Waikato/Waitomo region late this morning and will continue eastwards towards Hawke’s Bay.

We've localised surface flooding in Ōkato and parts of South Taranaki. Our local councils have been notified. Please only travel if necessary and avoid driving through flood waters as there could be debris or the road could have moved underneath.

@MetService wave warning for Mōkau to Cape Egmont expects waves to increase to 5-6m Sunday morning and 6-7m in some places. Highest risk time is around high tide - Port Taranaki high tide 8:52am Sun 13 Feb. Be extra cautious if you have to be at the beach and river mouths.

8:58pm Thursday 10 Feb. MetService New Zealand has now upgraded all of Taranaki from a Watch to a Severe Weather Warning starting from 1pm on Friday. Note this is an Orange level warning, not a Red warning as per last weekend which is reserved for the most extreme events.

Mid Parihaka Road Bridge - closed until thorough engineering assessment is complete. Weld St/Browne St in Normanby - now open. Tangahoe Valley Rd – closed. Rawhitiroa Rd - Mangamingi Saddle (14km from Eltham) will reopen to two lanes by tonight. Stent Rd now open.

*SH ROAD UPDATE* SH45 between Okato and Opunake is open but there is 50km/h speed restriction in place between Rahotu and Pungarehu. There are also speed restrictions at SH3, Mokoia, near the Tangahoe Bridge after yesterday's slip. Please take care.
