And I get it... But does the reception really paint the whole picture?

Really felt like grinding was baked into the game as it's core idea and completing any battle felt tedious.
I dropped it.

Record of Agarest War 1. The absolute struggle & tedium that it took to beat this game cannot be expressed fully (and it's sequel although I have a soft spot for that one). Early day Compile Heart game at its best (read: worst)
Nice generational protagonists concept tho. And my Top 20 favorite final boss themes.

I truly think there's a good game in here
But the execution destroyed any chance of really finding it. The Crave team was way out of their depth with this one.

Also. Don't forget, over half of consumers are not even aware of this whole "key cards" things. They're just buying games. Often for their kids.

The point of my post is that stores are jacking up their prices on the physical media because of 'demand' and people seem to be paying over the odds despite the fact it's on E-Shop.

Digital provides 0 opportunity to recoup losses. Physical guarantees 80% return with quick sale. And sometimes even an appreciation in value.

The same thing happened with RE. People went nuts and paid hundreds of dollars for a three pack of game key cards when it was the same price at the Nintendo online store.

Live service games are fickle studio killers. Any company pushing for them really needs to re-evaluate before shit gets even worse.

@DeeGeeGames2009 @Shinky_Plays Having just beaten Alundra a month or so ago... It's not better. Not even close. Even putting aside my lifelong LOD bias. Alundra is fun and charming but unbelievably frustrating as well for all the wrong reasons.

Is there actually an RPG on PS1 that’s better than The Legend of Dragoon?

The "Tourist" in question was negative 10 years old when FFVII dropped.
Monetizing shit attitudes like this was not only the worst thing this platform has ever done, but is also one of the worst things going in the gaming space.

@AHalfNickel @faintlament Me, being a vita owner, saw a new game was releasing on vita. Googled it. Got reviews of Trails in the Sky without realizing it and thought I was buying a sprite based RPG on vita. No regerts.

@theWellRedMage Simple. Turn based combat is low effort for a high price and many companies take advantage of that. Turn based games are the eastern equivalent to the west’s movie games that also have little to them. There’s cheaper alternatives. Also fans of the genre are often highly obnoxious
