The impact of natural and man-made disasters cannot be underscored enough in South Asia. Being one of the most vulnerable regions prone to climate-related hazards, the disasters in South Asia have a transnational character with effects from one country spilling into another. A regional approach to prevent and minimise the impact of disasters must be deliberated as it has a direct bearing on the livelihood of two billion people. @RecapAsia

Our Research Associate, Dr. @TauseefJaved16, along with co-authors Sun Jiandang and Ayisha Khurshid, had their paper "Revisiting Thailand's Paranoia: SEATO as a Safeguard Against Vietnam Syndrome" published in the prestigious Margalla Papers. The paper discusses how Cold War dynamics, SEATO, and Thailand's strategic prowess intertwined to shape the region. Thailand's handling of marginal gains during the Vietnam War was driven by its deep-seated fear of the "Vietnam syndrome." margallapapers.ndu.edu.pk/site/article/v…
