We've gotta be really careful with the rhetoric we're spewing out here on to social media. The French are integral to Canadian culture. My ancestors have been here since the 1600s, longer than most can claim. It's sad that folks are becoming so frustrated, that deporting all the French is seemingly a palatable idea. It shows how divided we've become as Canadians. The Balkanization of Canada is near completion. Here we already have a call for Genocide.
🐸Smo🇨🇦@WizardbeardSmo

@EricRStPierre We should start with deporting all who speak French.

@A_Dunesy @ArthurGuiness3 @Charles_string_ Well I dont know if it is true everywhere , but in France no one is watching american movies in original version, we have the French voices. The only reason i think it is easier to learn english is for conjugaison, and also items have no gender

@ArthurGuiness3 @Charles_string_ Yes, but that comes vastly more easy. Most of the world can speak English because American tv and culture has a hegemony. Your province also strongly encourages bilingualism and has better systems in place.

I've come to realise that ignorant people like JJ think Francophones by default know English & thus are the privileged class because they start with a default of two languages. But in reality everyone requires some time & effort to learn a new language. Also lol at undemocratic.

@kevlap017 English is a vastly more useful language to learn than French, and vastly more ubiquitous in day-to-day life. This is why English is the most common second language to learn all over the world.

One of my biggest annoyances about these accusations that "bilingualism requirements advantage francophones" is that there's this assumption that francophones are like innately knowledgeable about English, that only Anglos have to learn French. And it's so stupid.

Everything about official bilingualism in Canada is built on myth. People can’t “just learn” a language they don’t need. Canada isn’t “built on” two equally-sized language groups. Bilingualism isn’t “necessary” to function at an elite level. It’s all just Laurentian folklore.

@Amockx2022 The US doesn’t need to beg for help. The world’s second largest Air Force is the United States Navy. We’re questioning loyalty and the French are doing what the French do; be cowards

@Tauto333 @ML3democrats The strength of the English language is that it united both Germanic and Latin into one language. France is a great country, its people are justifiably proud, and l appreciate how painful the rise of the British was for them.

@AllanDavy1 @ollie_F05 @ML3democrats When Britain was the world superpower the statut of french as the international language was Not put in question. That is the intervention of the US in WW1 and the exigence of president Wilson that one version of the peace treaty to be Redacted in english that changed things

@Tauto333 @ollie_F05 @ML3democrats Somehow the fact that following the defeat of Napoleonic France England/Britain was the world superpower for a hundred years seems to have passed you by? The US speaks English because of England, not in spite of it.
