COMMENTARY: Let’s say it plainly: There has never been a president as corrupt as Donald Trump.
There is no close second in our history.

Fun fact for the $10 billion lawsuit crowd.
The IRS leak that exposed Donald Trump’s tax returns happened between August 2019 and November 2020.
405,427 other taxpayer returns were also leaked.
Trump was president. His own pick, Charles Rettig, ran the IRS. The contractor who did it, Charles Littlejohn, worked on a Trump-era IRS contract and is now serving five years in federal prison.
On January 29, 2026, Trump sued the IRS and Treasury for $10 billion over a breach that happened on his watch, under his commissioner, by a contractor his administration paid.
He is suing the federal government he ran, for failing to stop a leak that occurred while he was running it.
The taxpayer foots the bill either way.

@taxgirl @ParkerTax Please help us get this word out to the public. IRS makes us look like fools and incompetent when we struggle to help our clients navigate the system.

Nailed it. I don't know how people in tax resolution do it.
We tell our clients to try to resolve on their own because they don't want to pay us to sit on hold for hours.
I wish we could serve our clients better but it's just not realistic, given the current state of the IRS. There truly are good people at the IRS, but they need more resources.

If you're wondering why your tax professional can't quickly resolve your IRS matter, the answer is that he cannot reach a human at the IRS to resolve it. I have a number of issues I need to resolve (and CAN be resolved) at the IRS's Practitioner Priority Service, but... (1/2)

George H.W. Bush kept his assets in a blind trust, as did Bill Clinton. Neither Obama nor Biden traded stocks or bonds while in office. 3,700 trades is probably more than all the trades of all the presidents until now. And he is trading stocks that are affected by his decisions. A walking conflict of interest, at the least, and perhaps insider trading. Just as members of Congress should not be able to trade stocks, so too the president. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
