Last Thursday, I lost my job. I didn’t cry. Not because it didn’t hurt, but because I already saw it coming. I had that feeling for weeks. When it finally happened, I just sat there and took it in. I was their brand strategist, and sometimes, I also stepped in as a designer. The pay was really good, especially for where I am in my career. And just like that, it was gone. Here’s the thing… even when you expect to lose something, it still hurts. The pain just comes slowly. But I don’t have time to sit in that feeling. I have until the end of April to figure things out. So this morning, I made a decision. I’m going to send 10 cold messages every single day until I get a retainer client. And I don’t want to do it alone. I’m looking for 10 people who are in the same situation, talented, hungry, but just needing a clear plan and people to move with. We’ll build in public. Daily check-ins. A WhatsApp group every morning. I’ll review your LinkedIn and share all my templates and strategies. We’ll share the wins. We’ll share the losses, too. I didn’t cry that Thursday, but I felt it. And if you’re feeling it too, the pressure, the silence after sending applications, the overthinking, Reply "I’m in." 10 spots. Let’s start now. 🥹

THE END OF LENT DOES NOT MEAN YOU SHOULD RELENT The Lenten season has just drawn to a close. After forty days of prayer, fasting, almsgiving, and self-denial, the Church now rejoices in the glory of the Risen Christ. The purple veils are lifted, the alleluias return, and the light of the Paschal candle reminds us that death has been conquered. But amid all the celebrations of Easter, a subtle temptation lurks: the temptation to relapse. A temptation to return to the old habits we renounced, the sins we confessed, and the spiritual disciplines we practiced only temporarily. Yet, as we rejoice in the Resurrection, we must remember this truth: the end of Lent does not mean we should relent. The Lenten journey is not merely a spiritual project with a deadline; it is a season of deep transformation, a time for realigning our lives with the Gospel. Its goal is not just seasonal repentance but lasting conversion. As such, if Lent helped us put off the old self, Easter must now be the time to put on the new (Ephesians 4:22–24). In Scriptures, whenever God calls people to a season of preparation - like Israel’s forty years in the wilderness or Jesus’ forty days in the desert - it is always a prelude to a deeper mission. The point was never the desert; it was what the desert was preparing them for. The Resurrection is not a return to normal - it is a call to live in a radically new way. During Lent, many of us took on different spiritual exercises: daily Mass, fasting from social media or gossip, setting aside more time for prayer, engaging in acts of charity, and striving to tame our tongues and desires. These were not just rituals; they were tools for transformation. The danger many face after Lent is what one might call spiritual backsliding. But we must keep in mind that the end of Lent is not the time to take a break from holiness - it is the time to live it out with deeper joy and conviction. St. Paul says, “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). The good habits you formed during Lent are seeds. Do not stop watering them just because the liturgical calendar has changed. To keep from relapsing into our old ways, we must remain connected to the very things that nourished us during Lent: Continue reading and meditating on Scripture daily (Psalm 119:105), keep your times of personal and communal prayer alive and intentional (1 Thessalonians 5:17), frequent the Eucharist and seek Reconciliation often (John 6:54, James 5:16), and let love of neighbor be your Easter perfume (John 13:35). Do not waste the progress you made in Lent. Build on it. Do not press pause. Do not go back. Do not relent. Fr. Ugochukwu Ugwoke, ISch
