@alexstubb The magic is just a culture of low expectations where no one is allowed to stand out. It’s easy to be the 'happiest' when you've been conditioned to never want anything more.

Finland is the Happiest country in the World for the 9th year running. We also climbed up the world brand index from 7th to 5th.
I am often asked why we do well in these rankings.
I do not think there is a magic potion, but it helps to have a society which strives towards freedom, equality and justice.
The basis of it all is a welfare society, a robust education system, a sense of security and a close attachment to nature.
There is no such thing as a perfectly happy society, but providing some building blocks that give us a chance to live a meaningful life, to help others, will nudge us in the right direction during the journey of life.

@thealepalombo Worse shithole than Malta.
All these places have these low tax regimes for a reason. Because they are shitholes nobody wants to live in longer than necessary.
Like my 8th-generation billionaire friend says, “it's cheap for a reason.”

I think 80% of families looking for a European base will end up in Cyprus.
Here's why.
15% corporate tax. A 17-year non-dom regime that eliminates tax on foreign dividends and interest with just 60 days of presence. English everywhere. British common law. No wealth tax. No inheritance tax.
340 days of sunshine. EU citizenship after 7 years of residency. Direct flights to London, Dubai, and most of Europe.
Healthcare is affordable and high quality. International schools in every major city. And with €300K in real estate, you qualify for permanent residency if you prefer the investment route. No other country gives you this combination at this price point.
Some people find it boring. As Portugal cools down, 80% of globally mobile families will most likely end up choosing Cyprus.
What's your take: how's life in Cyprus? Is it really as boring? Please share your honest pros and cons.

@TimurNegru Cool but the whole area is full of half-empty houses because nobody wants to live in a place where you need to fear getting gassed and robbed.

@BowTiedBull Each kid adds $3M, and the kids' mother adds an extra $6M. So adjust accordingly if you plan to have a family.

there’s a huge problem in fashion, even with very expensive brands
it’s very hard to get clothes that
• look good AND fit well
• are at the forefront of trends, cuts etc
• are made from 100% natural materials (cotton, linen, Kashmir, merino etc)
I spent so much time manually checking materials and most brands focusing on natural only tend to be a bit bland, too-old school or hippie-ish
even a lot of designer brands use polyester etc it’s kinda crazy
I need a shopping agent who checks this stuff for me
or someone collecting the best brand to send out weekly newsletters
could probably build a good business around this, I think this trend will only get bigger
but there’s are very few cool brands who already care about not using plastic

@BowTiedBull I would also add ultra-luxury gated communities.
Half of the $20M+ homes sit empty most of the year, intended to feed owners' egos and status.
Saddest thing I have seen in a long time.
English

@BowTiedBull The exception to the rule roots in the middle of nowhere returns to being nobody again and listens to birds to sign. Laguna is cool but there are no birds.
English

@BowTiedBull The real challenge is to understand when to stop. Everybody knows too many ultra-rich people who stay in “until I hit this mark, and then I return to the normal world.” And guess what? The number goes up, and they end up being prisoners for the rest of their lives.

The world’s happiest country has managed to keep its No. 1 ranking for eight years running. The picture in the United States isn’t so rosy.

@BowTiedBull $10M+ doesn't buy a home in a gated beach community. How can you call the person rich?
English

@BowTiedIguana @BowTiedBull I can't believe I say this but I agree. Crypto would have done better under Kamala.
English

@BowTiedBull Prices would be higher: Kamala had no crypto agenda beyond lighter touch regulation to please donors.
Trump's cronies killed it with their grift.
English

@ryanlemenager Do you put any weight on the fact that you don't have climate risks similar to those in Florida, Texas, or California?
Illinois/Milwaukee starts to look pretty attractive to me.
English

@itsolelehmann Monaco. That solves all your problems. Cyprus, Malta etc are shitholes.
English

@AnttiBehm As someone who lives there, why do you think Finland is continually named "Happiest Country in the World" if things aren't looking good?
English

We've said the vast majority will be thrilled with $4-5M and a paid off house wherever they will be happiest.
Beyond that $25M+ is insane money since you can make $1M a year just on the investment returns.

@BowTiedBull What do you consider the minimum amount of total networth to be considered rich?
