Did you know that Whitehall New York is a place where the legend of Bigfoot is actually protected by law. In 1976 sightings on Abair Road changed this town forever. Local police and state troopers reported a massive creature with glowing red eyes which sparked a legend that Whitehall embraced completely. Today it is an official Sasquatch Sanctuary. The Law: A 2004 ordinance makes it illegal to hunt or harm Bigfoot within town limits. The Status: In 2018 the town board voted to make Sasquatch the official town animal. From 12 foot steel statues to the annual Sasquatch Calling Festival this community protects its most famous resident. Whether you are a skeptic or a believer one thing is clear. In Whitehall the legend is law.

WEREWOLF WEDNESDAY • It's hard to say how the dogman phenomenon & the legend of werewolves intertwine with one another, or if they do at all. We can propose the possible scenario of werewolf legends stemming from early dogman encounters, & while this seems likely... who knows!

@DSPetolicchio I've not had an encounter yet, but I know people who I trust 100% who know what they saw. The sheer number of purported sightings from dependable & reputable people along with ample shared patterns make it impossible for me to assume that bigfoot doesn't exist! 100% real for me!

MOTHMAN MONDAY • The earliest known "avian humanoid" legends date back to 3000-2000 BC, in ancient Egypt & Mesopotamia. 55+ further notable "creatures/beings" with similar attributes can be traced throughout history... leading us to our very own Mothman legend in 1966. #cryptid

I wanted to take a moment to share some heartfelt personal thoughts in the image below. The main take away... I love the cryptid subject and community... and I will always be happy to support anyone that shares that love. In the end we are a cryptid family not just a community.

@TeaandCryptids Fun thought experiment: If a species were highly intelligent, mostly nocturnal, and actively avoided humans, how long could it remain undiscovered in 193 million acres of wilderness? Longer than we’d probably like to admit.

BIGFOOT... ROOM TO ROAM ??? • The National Forest System of the US is compromised of 193,145,865 acres... which is roughly 8.5% of the total US land area! The system includes 154 national forests (approx. 188.5 million acres) & 20 national grasslands (approx. 3.8 million acres).

What is it NESSIE?... Did Timmy fall in the well... again? :D OK, all kidding aside, this is a very notable photo in the sphere of "Nessiedom", made up word, but love it! Hugh Gray took this photo in 1933, where the river Foyers enters the loch, from approx. 50-feet in distance.

WEREWOLF WEDNESDAY... LOUP-GAROU: This early French term combines loup (wolf) & garou (a man who turns into a beast, from Frankish wariwulf). ROUGAROU: With time, the pronunciation shifted in the French dialect spoken by Cajuns, leading to the "Rougarou" spelling/pronunciation.

PYGMY LONG-FINGERED POSSOM... Previously known only as fossilized bones from 6,000 years ago, this uniquely digited marsupial has been confirmed as part of current natural world! A great discovery, & one that leaves us with the cryptozoological question... WHAT ELSE IS OUT THERE?

@Bugimus Hmm, that's always been an intriguing concept, and one I certainly wouldn't rule out. I think the intelligence level is likely there regardless. So... maybe!

@wired4wonder I likely wouldn't tell ALL my friends and family, those I'm very closest to... possibly, but... I'd definitely post about it here on X, so it would be no true secret in the end! I would just be exceptionally selective in the sharing of said encounter in my personal life.

If you were hiking alone and saw something that shouldn't exist a 7-foot tall wolf on two legs or a giant Bigfoot, would you actually tell anyone, or would you keep it to yourself to avoid sounding crazy?

WEREWOLF WEDNESDAY • I certainly can't state definitively what a DOGMAN may, or may not eat... but North America has an estimated 30-35 million white-tailed deer & 6-9 million wild pigs. We can assume these would make for ample protein sustenance... or maybe they feed on fear?!?

MOTHMAN MONDAY • The artistic interpretations of Mothman exist with considerable variety! I think this is quite fair when discussing a creature that so few have seen... & often witnessed in darker conditions. It's hard to pin down definitive traits, but with a name like Mothman!
