I've seen a lot more helpful replies pop up now. Toxic side of the community aside, It's nice to see more people offer to help me understand the modern game and even coach. And yes, I now know DM is bad so I'll see if I can play something better.

I have never felt so unwelcome to a community. I was genuinely becoming interested in researching Yu-Gi-Oh and getting involved but I've seen more than enough closed-mindedness and defensive to not want to be a part of it.

@TeamAPS @Rhymestyle The game isn't "under attack" because a new player got VSK9'd, but it's tiring to hear "the game is broken" rhetoric over and over from people who think they're the first person to "realize" this. There IS an aspect of user error to the situation.

I dont like the fact that we see casual/new players experiencing Yu-Gi-Oh! for the first time and theres people who's first idea is to dunk on them (thus further making them not want to play). That shit is corny. Do better.
Educate and teach people. HELP THEM, not knock.

First time you try to play this TODAY, you'll get overwhelmed, blame the meta, blame the other player, blame the mechanics, etc. It's frustrating. Then you keep playing and everything starts to click. It's a constant puzzle you try to solve & when you do, it's highly satisfying.
