I never said my mom only gets SS. If you make under $24k a year (which was bumped up to $30k temporarily in 2025-2028 with the new bill) you don’t pay tax. But anyone who has other income (my late father’s pension, in my mom’s case) that puts her over that, she is still taxed heavily on Social Security.

The “no tax on Social Security” promise was misleading. I just did my mom’s taxes. They didn’t eliminate the tax. They added a temporary $6,000 senior deduction that reduces taxable income. Social Security is still taxed. Taxing seniors on benefits they already paid taxes into is absurd. Yet another bait-and-switch for campaign talking points. Do they really think their constituents won’t notice the thousands of dollars they still have to send to the IRS?

Currently at the DMV trying to get a REAL ID. So far I’ve provided: • Driver’s license • Passport • Social Security card • Birth certificate • Proof of address Next is my mom’s pregnancy ultrasound, a blood sample & my pre-K report card. Bonus for them if I leave crying!

@JJWatt I used to tip all the time and now I ask the counter people because I always thought they received those tips. Majority of the time, they do not. Any tips received via the iPad they turn around or on the pos system goes to the owner - not the people working.

Genuine question on a restaurant situation: You walk up to a counter to order. You find your own table and seat yourself. If you order coffee, they hand you a cup and you go fill it up yourself. If you order food, they hand you a buzzer and when it goes off, you go pick it up yourself. The iPad has a “20%, 25%, 30%, Other” tip option, with 20% already preselected. What’s your move?

@HazelAppleyard Why would the preschooler be braving the men’s restroom alone? She’s be with her dad? Majority of airports have family bathrooms as well. I’ve volunteered in the past as a mom with kids to stay outside the stall before in this situation when the man had the small child alone
