Merchant on r/shopify migrated Debut to Horizon: clean UI but Safari bugs ate hours of fixes. If you're migrating clients off Debut, test Safari exhaustively first—Chrome won't catch the layout breaks. Legacy theme migrations need debugging buffer time built into scope.

@kimurathomas What's the gist of it ? Reviewers are not in line with the theme block approach you used ?

Just got some feedback from Shopify on our latest theme Its not looking good We'll see but we may end up selling outside the theme store with a scaled back version on the theme store

Today, the world lost some light. We had to say goodbye to Jimmy Hendrix. He was 15 years old. Dogs are the purest most beautiful gifts humans have. They love you unconditionally, ask for nothing and care only about you. Hug your dog, they are the one constant. RIP Jimmy ❤️

Kévin Miguet | CRO for high-growth Shopify brands
Focusing only on ecoms making min 10M/year and say goodbye to smaller brands was the best decision of our Q4. We solve hard expensive problems We make clients happier Everything go faster and is stressful but in an exciting way I say no more often than I say yes love my life.

@MurmeltierS @Curzey1 I will double check but pretty sure that works, though one of the reasons why we’re doing this parser is so you can do this sort of thing without the hack. Supporting objects will be easy.

@0x15f It's not a boolean hence the "true" is necessary String/Number line → Variable exists whether 0 or 1

I can't remember the names of the PM's from Shopify who are working on Metaobjects unfortunately. (I met some at Editions and they are super awesome). Quick question for them, can the rich text input for Metaobjects please get a little love? (same features as the product input)

@tobi With one word, I would say "Unify". Using the same base would be the absolute best ! Next best thing : - Default value - Header/paragraph available to meta. - Meta "true/false" like theme "checkbox" - Meta "link" and "url" like theme "url" - Meta "date/time" available to theme

@DuboisVirgil yea. MetaObjects are almost there, but not quite. Pls send ideas. Default value is definitely a big one

@ThomKnepper I agree that any changes should be transparents to merchants. My point is, sections are optional not presets.

@DuboisVirgil For us devs and partners, I agree. For the merchant side though, I don't. x.com/ThomKnepper/st…

@kimurathomas I was talking with a couple of people about this in Toronto last week and I'd like to kindly disagree. The people who will me working with the theme the most are merchants. And they LOVE pre-made sections. I'd rather have too much sections than just a couple basic ones.

Great thread from some really smart people, but update from my friend - He ended up taking a job BUT he is going to work on his business on the side seriously for the next 6 months to 1 year. I think this is a great strategy to build on the side while still working a 9-5.

A buddy is considering self-employment after being let go of a job where “everyone is family” but his whole department was eliminated in a company restructure. I’m obviously super pro and have my own thoughts, but what do you tell your friends considering self-employment?
