FOOTBALL | Lots of new for the Eagles. Namely, Slaton, Bushland, Andrews and Lovington, NM. (Andrews last played a private school in 2006-2009 when they went 1-3 against Midland Christian.) LCHS is 2-0 against New Mexico schools since 2004 with wins over Eunice (2005) and Capitan (2021). Big Spring Pathway Academy played JV and JH schedules last year, including JH against Lubbock Christian, and lost its only varsity game, 44-0 to Harlingen Marine Military Academy. @PigskinPrep

Who would I need to contact to get the Austin Track and Field City Records? I have a pretty good archive that goes back to 1998. But it would take MANY hours to try to go through and figure out the records...so ANY help would be greatly appreciated! I can use online archives like MileSplit and Athletics, but I fear that won't have some of Austin's earlier and pretty remarkable records like Austin Reagans late 90's and early 2000s Relay and Sprint marks... @hinojosa_david do you have a contact?

BASKETBALL | The only two Texas private and parochial alumni on rosters of NCAA Division III Elite 8 men's teams are both -- from The Woodlands! The Emory Eagles, who are 25-3, have John Cooper School @JCS_Athletics's Mario Awasum - a sophomore - in their starting lineup. The 6'6" forward leads the team in field goal percentage (.587), is second in rebounding (7.8 rpg) and leads the team in blocks with 59. On the other side of the bracket is The Woodlands Christian Academy's @twcasports Omar Gayle, also a sophomore, who is on the roster of the 29-1 University of St. Thomas Celts (from here in Houston). Gayle has only seen action in 11 games this year, but has been part of the support to propel the Celts to their first Elite 8 appearance ever. Graphics are courtesy of @NCAADIII.

BASKETBALL | Congratulations to Colorado College’s Kayla Mackel and Texas Lutheran University’s Lauren Sansano - both Texas private and parochial school alums - as they were both honored as second team recipients. Both young ladies are seniors. Mackel is a graduate of Houston Christian High School @HCHSAthletics while Sansano played for San Antonio FEAST.

BASKETBALL | These are the top 12 of the 29 players all-time who played high school basketball in Texas outside of the UIL. (Those listed in blue are still active.) Four players have averaged 10 or more points per game. They include the following: 19.2 ppg - Randle 18.5 ppg - Siakam 13.0 ppg - Allen 10.9 ppg - Mudiay

BASEBALL | Grossman has seen action in 12 of 15 games for the Fighting Scots of the College of Wooster (OH). He's batting .350 with six RBIs in 20 at-bats. His six walks also gives him a .500 on-base percentage. The Fighting Scots are 12-3 after this win, a 7-game improvement.

BASEBALL | Solid feature on Fort Worth Christian School's Grady Emerson.

BASEBALL | A couple of former Austin Brentwood Christian School @BCSBears Bears - SS Jake Amoroso and P Seth Taylor - are playing their part in UT-Dallas' success. Amoroso, a junior, is the fifth leading hitter on the team, batting .330 with a homer and 12 runs batted in and is second in steals with seven. Meanwhile, Taylor, also a junior, has drawn seven starts on the mound and has gone 2-1.

SOFTBALL | Valis, who is an alum of Shiner St. Paul Catholic, has his Lady Bearkats with a mark of 18-13 - the best ever at the 31-game mark in his eight years as Sam Houston State's head coach.
