Delighted to see @HMcEntee beginning plans for mandatory student teacher placements in special education settings. Our two-way learning through the Team Up model @TourismHospDept MTU has been living that vision for some time—giving Home Economics trainee teachers hands-on experience alongside students with Down Syndrome in a shared kitchen space. Proud to have been ahead of the curve and now seeing national policy seeking what's offered through the Team Up For Home Economics model. @noelgmurray

A powerful example of the incredible impact that emerges when community and academia join forces to create meaningful, high-value programming. Thrilled to be shortlisted with our collaborating partners @TourismHospDept at MTU, for the 2025 Education Awards, for Best Community Academic Collaboration for the "Team Up for Home Economics" programme. 🔥🔥🔥

The community-academic collaboration; Team Up for Home Economics with MTU is back in 2025 and commences this coming Friday, 7th of February. All students are very excited to get started on this two-way learning inclusive education initiative! 🔥

ENROLLING NOW! Team Up AquaFit for participants 10 yrs and over with Down Syndrome or other Intellectual Disability (ID). In Bishopstown Leisureworld, this programme uses a buddy system to ensure one-to-one support. Each participant with ID turns up in the pool with a family member who is over 18 years and both enjoy a fun aerobic workout to music, while the family member provides any necessary additional support that may be required.
