@PaulSkallas Lol no , it’s opposite. Young people tend to be idealistic, with no regards to practical sphere of life because they don’t have to yet.

Your philosophy changes as you go through life. As a young man, you begin as a realist focused on practicality and what's directly achievable. With success, you grow into an idealist, driven by the belief in larger possibilities Then, life reveals its uncertainties and you become a skeptic, question all the structures Finally, as an old man, you become a mystic. so much of life ultimately comes down to luck and forces beyond your comprehension.

@BangersOnToast I did exactly this,or even better, because I landed a role of tech-sales recruiter in British HR company. But that exactly was my plan, to land a tech sales role after ~2 years or quicker What was funny, plan didnt work out because Covid hit and I was laid off after 1,5 month...

The easiest way to “break into tech sales” is to become a recruiter It requires no degree or prior experience and you can start as soon as your education has finished But here’s the secret If you position yourself correctly, you will be recruiting for GTM teams in tech companies You’ll build relationships with elite salespeople/sales leaders and you’ll learn inside info about the fastest growing organisations on the planet then when you’re ready, you can strategically jump into the best team with 1-3 years of sales experience This is such a good angle because managers are desperate for more pipeline You can sell them the dream about dialling all day every day and that makes you a safe bet for anyone looking to hire a hustler Easy 100k OTE at 23/24 With a path to serious business acumen, freedom and wealth by 30-35 Worlds your oyster after that Road 2 Success

Imagine how many people contributed to this sad post of an announcement. "No Jimmy, let's call it unparalleled because if they benchmark us we are 2x more expensive than all competitors for less features. And let's say something about AI. Maybe about the pending AI war?"

Ej, jak się można nauczyć tak w opór głośno gwizdać na palcach? Zawsze chciałem tak umieć, ostatnio to mi się nawet śniło, że tak potrafie. Są jakieś tutoriale, albo coś?

Best to tell no one. Even your close friends who claim to be happy for you are secretly doing the “sizing up” game and comparisons. Just learn to lie down it’s a lot easier. If they are worth $5M you are worth $3M if they are worth $500M you are at $250M. Never above them.

It’s quite funny how accurate @BowTiedBull is with family and jealousy. I’ve built a somewhat successful business for my age bracket and compared to the rest of my family i’m doing amazing especially in comparison to what they did at my age. But anytime I bring up something positive going on with my biz it’s met with the most unenthusiastic response: “Oh cool” And that’s it. Not “How did you do it?” or “That’s amazing you went from living in your car at one point to building a successful business” Just “Nice” Which actually hurts more than outright jealousy. Like i built this biz after walking through hell and back with 0 support from them and all i get is “cool” I was disheartened until I tried to see it from their perspective. Here i am some young dude that’s essentially done what they always thought about doing their entire working life and broke all the rules along the way. I’m doing what they wished they could but are too afraid to do. So follow what @BowTiedBull says and keep it quiet. It does you no favors sharing your success. Now I get no favors because I can “afford it” Doesn’t mean i want to spend the money…

@thedealdirector @GetATechSalesJ Interesting, but requires law insight Interesting tough how much such lawsuit can achieve. Would love to hear about examples. I ve my former company has such policy at least at US and in some European countries.

@TechSalesImpost @GetATechSalesJ Depends on the country, in some places it’s difficult for employers to prove that a layoff/firing was justified even if it looks “obvious”. Between litigation and settlement when employees sue, it’s easier to pay part of that upfront and minimise risk.
