@RetroJeff83 Awesome, that’s what I do as well. This time the pad pulled when I trimmed the leads. It did look like the cap might’ve been leaking though. You always do great work and I enjoy viewing the photos. The Saturn FRAM install photos have helped me several times! Thanks again sir

@TedderDanny Nope, I can take some next time but I know what you mean Haven’t done that in many years and I do a lot of them. I find trimming leads a bit so nozzle makes better contact, lowest heat and gently wiggle cap while leaving nozzle completely still works best

@RetroJeff83 Great job as always!! I was hoping to see the bottom of the cdrom board to see if you had any broken traces. I just recapped my entire model 1 and only pulled one pad on the Sony KSK pcb. They are super delicate on the Sony KSK pcb!!!

@zaxour Wow I did not realize you can also restore the RBG connection to the rear connection port after this mod. That is a game changer for sure! I was thinking if I did the 64BP then I would no longer be able to use the Jag2HD. Definitely ordering

@zaxour Very nice! I appreciate all that you do! I already have a HD Retrovision RGB cable for Saturn so I’m ready, just need the 64BP. I’ll also do the hairball while I’m in there. I’ll be on the lookout for more comparison shots and I’ll be placing an order very soon. Thanks again

Here's an unmodified Jaguar, using high quality cables, via RetroTink 5X with optimal sampling. Just look at the smearing! This is "We have RGB at home" levels. And composite is a disaster - 100% white screen causes the sync to go berzerk.

@AlteredRetro Nice! Where did you source the new laser from? I need a new laser for mine and there are lots of options so I’m not sure which one to go with.

Worked on a JVC X’EYE for a client. CD spindle was damaged and needed replacement, broken trace on CD board, got a recap and a new laser. This thing is awesome! #jvcxeye #sega #segagenesis #segacd #retro #retrogaming

@RetroJeff83 Very nice work as always! Very impressive no ripped traces either!! May I ask which method you used to remove the smd caps? I highly doubt it was the twist method. My guess is you used hot air from a rework station. I have a PC Engine Duo I need to finish replacing the caps on.

I was sent a JVC X’eye to troubleshoot it not reading discs. After cleaning the lens, it still kept “ticking” and not spinning. Opened it up and pulled the servo board to find this hellscape. They even covered it with BLUE mask to make my life extra hard 🫠

@TedderDanny I have it as a service option as console5 sells full power circuit refresh kits and I’ve done many This customer opted not to choose that for whatever reason, luckily this one is operating fine at the time of testing. Ideally they would all select that option though for sure!

@iFixRetro Nice work! I was hoping to see which method you used for sega cd audio. There are serval different methods I’ve seen and I’m not sure which is currently the best one. I bought a kit from Console 5 but it looks like one of the older methods.
