I’d recommend watching Draisaitl’s entire press conference. People will use short clips to create an angle. Yes, he said he was concerned about them taking a step back, but then he went into detail about why he thought it happened and how they can be better. Very direct, homest and thoughtful responses from a leader. He doesn’t believe they are far away, but they (Mgmt, coaches and players) need to improve in some areas to get back in track. His response about the team maybe taking for granted how hard it is to win and what it takes, all season not just in the playoffs, stood out.

Even if you (somehow) set aside that Bowman shouldn’t have been reinstated/running a team, and focus just on his track record, it’s still abysmal. The hiring was a bad decision on Day 1, but letting him continue after total asset mismanagement could outright destroy this window

This + the ‘trending the wrong way’ comments from Draisaitl 1) are refreshingly honest 2) should be such an alarm for the Oilers’ ownership and front office.

@shaynagoldman_ As if his play the last few games wasn't telling enough, to be a game-time decision in this situation is pretty telling of his injury status. But the bigger point still has to be complete mismanagement of this roster around the big guns.

@shaynagoldman_ Hintz injury obviously contributes to Dallas facing elimination tonight, but it's not the only reason. So if/when the Stars get the boot, higher ups have to take a long hard look past that injury and at management's decisions over the last year+ that got them here.

@Kgill39 I'm am Oilers fan, and I think he deserves to chase a cup, in Edmonton or elsewhere, his legacy is on the line. But didn't he write a letter to the Tribune a month ago saying he can't picture himself winning a cup anywhere else but Edmonton? No one knows what he wants but him.

@BleedOilBlue These guys have played 11 playoff rounds in 4 seasons, their top guys played in the Four Narions and Olympics, they're exhausted. Guys get paid after good seasons/post seasons so there's roster turnover, I think we need to calm down a little bit.

@AzorcanGlobal We traded 2 pending UFAs that we likely weren't retaining, and a 2028 2nd for a goalie with a decent cap hit for 2 more years that was playing well before he got here. 29 will be 38yo and 97 might even be gone before that player even helps. Bowman took a swing, hasn't worked out.

At the end of the day both the Stars & Oilers ended the @StanleyCup Playoffs with zero Cups in the last two seasons. The pressure is on in Oil Country. In Bob’s 18 years of working for the Oilers you don’t see many tweets like you see below. Tristan Jarry might appreciated this statement on Friday afternoon on Oilers Now instead he gets them 72 hours later. This tweet is made because what didn’t happen on Friday’s show in our opinion. Jarry is the fell guy here & that’s unfair. But he’s a pro & he’s going to do everything he can to be the Game 1 Starter come Opening Night of the Playoffs. We believe in him. The segments with you & Ryan are entertaining because they are nothing like the rest of the segments all week. Ryan brings the heat so you both challenge each other on full display for 22-25 minutes. Then have a great laugh afterwards. But just maybe if the spotlight wasn’t put on Jarry on Friday afternoon no one is talking about what happened at practice on Thursday of last week 72 hours later. The situation with his teammates would not be public knowledge if it wasn’t brought up on air. Just a thought. It’s been a season of ups & downs for the Oilers because Stan Bowman & Jeff Jackson haven’t put this team in a great situation going forward here. More importantly Stan Bowman has been out of the league too long to understand what it takes to build a winning culture & winning organization. @Teed1986 @crozier97 no I have management fatigue because there is no reason for this team to be plagued by the same issues every year. they are one of the most exciting teams in the league, but they should NOT be this chaotic.
