BREAKING: Labor is putting petrol companies on notice with bigger penalties for misconduct and more scrutiny and surveillance, and shoring up fuel supply. Labor won’t cop big fuel corporates and servos treating Australians like mugs. That's why we're doubling penalties for misleading conduct - now up to $100M - ramping up surveillance of suspicious price spikes, and improving coordination of fuel deliveries, especially in regional areas. Australia is not immune to global economic uncertainty, but the industry is on notice not to exploit it, and that's why these measures will help make sure you are getting fair prices for fuel.

It won’t take a crystal ball to predict what the Treasurer will say when Labor hands down its budget in May. Iran. They’ll blame the war in the Middle East for higher fuel prices and rising costs. But Australians know the truth.
