@FrayneJack34043 as someone who was v into The Smiths as an angsty teen in the 80s I distinctly recall the elevation of Marr as something that happened in the mid 90s post Britpop laddish rehabilitation of The Smiths. it was a way for blokes to like them while remaining blokes tbqh.

Not a big Smiths listener, let alone solo Moz, but "they would've been better off fronted by Marr" misses point of co-writing. Had someone else written lyrics/vocal melodies to those songs they would've been different songs & there's no telling the same people would've liked them

I was in Whitechapel, East London, yesterday. Every ethnicity you could think of was there trying out the eateries in Brick Lane - brown, black, white, Chinese etc. I saw pubs and gambling shops (which I don't approve of but they were there), I saw halal eateries, fish and chips, and every other type of food you could think of. People were dressed in Western clothes, eastern clothes and not very many clothes at all. My point being that if this area is a Shari'ah zone, then it gets 0/10 for the actual implementation of Islamic law. What it is is a very multicultural area where everyone seems to rub along reasonably well together and tolerate each other's differences. The only issue is when racists and Islamophobes from outside the area come in and start stirring up sh#t.
