@jimstewartson He did the same with Nvidia stock twice last year. If nothing else, this blatant and public insider trading could very well come back to haunt him in 2028.

#BREAKING: Psaki: “Guess where Trump’s adult son @EricTrump is right now? Well, he’s with his father in China. Now, Eric Trump does NOT have a role in the U.S. government. In fact, he’s supposed to be sort of fire-walled off from ANY U.S. government activities because he took over the family businesses when his father reentered the White House supposedly to prevent conflicts of interest, but there he is…”🙄

@betaerat @Rainmaker1973 My point is, he most likely could have 'divested' the $240 million in an illegal way to mitigate his tax liability while still keeping most/all of the $$. I give him credit for what he did here, very rare to hear of CEOs doing this.

@TempusThaeles @Rainmaker1973 Not necessarily. There are an insane variety of deal formats, including separate compensation for the CEO. This is a common strategy to mitigate taxes.

In a remarkable act of generosity, Graham Walker, former CEO of Fibrebond Corporation in Louisiana, sold his company for $1.7 billion and shared the success with his employees in an extraordinary way. When the company was acquired by Eaton, Walker made it a non-negotiable condition of the deal that $240 million be distributed as bonuses to all 540 full-time employees. He wanted the people who had helped build the company to directly benefit from its success. Bonuses were calculated based on years of service, with many long-term employees receiving six-figure payouts. Workers were stunned when they opened their letters — some initially thought it was a prank. The generous windfall transformed lives overnight and highlighted Walker’s strong belief that loyalty and hard work deserve to be richly rewarded.

@betaerat @Rainmaker1973 There are many ways CEOs can protect themselves from golden parachute taxes while keeping the $$.

@Rainmaker1973 Meh. This is a common strategy to avoid golden parachute taxes. Not as magnanimous a gesture as you would think.

EXCLUSIVE: California spent nearly $189 million to give every state prisoner a free iPad. We interviewed a dozen death row inmates, who told us that prisoners are using the tablets to watch porn, engage in x-rated chats, and groom minors on the outside. city-journal.org/article/death-…

A. They weren’t actually iPads but generic tablets B. 90,000 inmates C. $2,100 per inmate In the worst era of “owning a computer is more than purchase price” the multiple was 5x. This is 15-20x for a managed device.
