@CrimsonPorg Except that the people liking the prequels is exactly the kind of thing that has ruined modern big blockbusters. Swallowing terrible writing, wooden acting and ugly filmmaking in exchange for hype moments, aura and nostalgia

@zweiwalker89607 I’ll never forgive TLJ and its defenders for pretending like Star Wars ever had it that you had to come from some powerful dynasty to be a Force user, when the prequels literally exist and already disproved that notion almost 30 years ago

@UnderstanderArt That what makes his tragedy a tragedy. You know what isn't a tragedy? A creepy psychopathic fascist...becoming an even worse psychopathic fascist.

@UnderstanderArt I already mentioned Warcraft 3 in Arthas. You might not have played that game, but Arthas does some fucking terrible things. Yet his story is great, because the game also shows that once he was a genuinly good and heroic man.

@UnderstanderArt "moral ambiguity" and the moral ambiguity is an evil fucking psycho with no reedemable qualities whatsoever. You want moral ambiguity, watch Andor. Play Kotor 2. They do moral ambiguity far better than Lucas can even dream of

@UnderstanderArt I understand perfectly well what the movies are trying to do. That they fail so abysmally in the execution is the problem.

@UnderstanderArt This is a problem with prequel fans in general. You always defend your favorite slop in the abstract. Of what the movie was going for, rather than what it actually is. Defending the movies for what they tried to do rather than what they actually did

@UnderstanderArt @Kasbhwz Yeah he does one thing, that is so hamfisted that it is laughable. It. Will never change however that everything else we see of him is the kind of stuff that should warrant like being sectioned off from society

@Kasbhwz @UnderstanderArt What you mean that totally hamfisted moment where he saves some clone pilots, put solely in the movie basically just because they needed to show him in any positive light after having made look like a complete monster in AotC? Is that the good you speak of?

@Tenayuca2427 @UnderstanderArt Of course what he did was terrible and there’s no excusing it, but there was still good in him which we also see in the third movie when he’s with Obi-Wan. I do agree that we needed to see more of Anakin’s heroic side though

@Kasbhwz @UnderstanderArt Ok, he was bad from AotC and from thereon. Ever since his balls dropped, the guy is shown as nothing but a monster in the making.

@UnderstanderArt But no, they clearly intended it to be a tragedy of a fallen hero, but when they present that hero a scumbag from the getgo, how is there any tragedy? Like when Padme says there is still good in him, what good is she speaking off? He was never good

@UnderstanderArt Your literal original post is about how the movie resonated because it depicted a moral fall. And if Anakin always having been just a psycho in hiding that could have been interesting...if that's what they were going for.

@Kasbhwz @UnderstanderArt Guy is a possessive fascist creep who murders children. He is the kind of guy that should have been on a watch list from day one. A bad egg from the start

@Tenayuca2427 @UnderstanderArt In ep1 he’s boy who loves his mom and wants to help people, in ep2 he’s a awkward teen but still good he doesn’t do any bad things until halfway through and he did in a fit of rage because his mom was tortured and died in his arms and he expressed remorse and guilt over it

@UnderstanderArt His story is not really a fall from grace, but that of a murderous sociopath that has everyone around him fooled that he's some kind of hero, but one day let the mask drop and reveals to everyone just what a disgusting freak he really is.

@UnderstanderArt Both are of an order of knights, that falls to darknes. Except in Arthas' case we actually see him be heroic. He is a good man, who actually has a fall to speak of. Anakin on the other hand is presented as the kind of guy who should have been on a watch list from day one.

@UnderstanderArt Anakin as a kid might be an entirely different character from clones. But nothing will change the fact that Hayden's Anakin has virtually no redeemable qualities, or at least none that aren't eclipsed by how he's from the start a sociopathic creepy fascist

The Mighty Dud Bolt
The Mighty Dud Bolt@mightydudbolt·
People are still clinging to the line that the prequels were "executed poorly," which basically means they didn't like the CGI and the Star Wars–style corny dialogue and acting. I don't care that Dexter Jettster isn't a real guy in a fatsuit. I don't care that Anakin says he's haunted by Padme's kiss. In fact I like those things. The people who trashed these movies have been wrong about literally everything else about them, and they're wrong about these things too. They're insufferably too-cool-for-school and they're simultaneously wet blankets.
Mydden@GamerMydden

@mightydudbolt Gosh I wish the film was executed stronger, because the story is such a banger...
